Enlarge ImageReports that Apoorva Lakhia is seriously considering Rani Mukerji for his biopic on Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar, has the film’s director rolling on the floor with laughter. “Rani is gaining weight for a role that I haven’t offered her? I am supposed to have decided on Rani to play Haseena when I haven’t even decided whether I can make a film on the concerned lady or not,” says Lakhia. Apparently, Haseena Parkar’s family wants creative control of the project to ensure that the lady is not painted in an unsavoury manner. This would mean a lot of whitewashing of the protagonist’s character which Apoorva is not willing to do.

Guffaws Lakhia, “While I am yet to sort out the issues regarding the project, Rani is supposed to have started gaining weight for the role. I suggest those who write such things better know a good dietician to reverse the damage.”

Meanwhile, a friend of Rani’s says she has no plans of signing any films at the moment. “From what we hear she plans to start a family this year,” adds the friend.
