The future of the Mumbai Film Festival seemed bleak
this year, due to lack of funds and sponsor dropouts. But thanks to the
support of B-Town celebs like Shahid Kapoor, organisers Mumbai Academy
of Moving Image (MAMI) have managed to collect around Rs 2 crore of the 5 crore needed.
Shaks tweeted support saying, “Mumbai — the film capital of India — should boast of a world class film festival. Lets get together and #Pledge4MAMI.”
He joins filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Hansal Mehta and Vidhu Vinod Chopra who have lent their support. An online campaign #Pledge4MAMI has gone viral, and organisers are trying their best to ensure that the 16th edition of the festival takes off in the city.
