Vikas Bahl must be tearing
his hair out in frustration. It's been over a month since he started the
search for a Sindhi businessman father for his upcoming Shahid
Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer Shaandaar. He'd first taken the role to Karan Johar who turned him down. And last week, he got the thumbs down from Sajid Khan as well.
When contacted, Sajid told Mirror, “Yes, I was offered the film but no, I'm not doing Shaandaar. I'm busy scripting my next film, a youthful rom-com."
It's interesting that Vikas has approached two actor-directors in their 40s with this pater's role despite the fact that neither is married or has fathered a child.
According to a source close to the development, “Vikas is very impressed with Karan's performance in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet and felt he'd do justice to Shaandaar. But after considering the offer for a while, Karan said he was not interested."
Mirror has it that Vikas plans to go back to Karan and try coaxing him to join his big fat wedding party. Let's see if Karan bites the bait.
