Homi Adajania's next seems a lot like the 2010 film Letters to Juliet; the director disagrees

Seems that the upcoming Deepika Padukone-Arjun Kapoor starrer, Finding Fanny, has a long-lost connection with the Amanda Seyfried-Vanessa Redgrave starrer, Letters To Juliet.
In the Hollywood film, released four years ago, Amanda's character goes on a pre-wedding Italian jaunt. And in an alley in Verona, on the wall of Juliet's balcony, she comes across a letter written by a woman 50 years ago, asking for advice on the love of her life. Amanda replies to the letter and eventually joins the elderly lady (Redgrave) and her grandson (Christopher Egan) in the search for her teenage sweetheart.
Finding Fanny also revolves around the search for Naseeruddin Shah's beloved, after he discovers that the letter written 46 years ago, in which he confessed love for her, never reached his Fanny. Arjun and Deepika's characters then facilitate the much-delayed rendezvous.
Deja vu? Homi doesn't think so. When the similarities in the plot were pointed out to him, he said that his story was registered years before Letters to Juliet released. "There is a similarity in the theme of finding one's old love, but it ends there," he asserted.
Elaborating on the differences, Homi added, "Letters to Juliet is very literal in its narrative treatment about an old woman searching for her lover who she didn't pursue at that time, whereas Finding Fanny is about each quirky character's journey and about an old postman who discovers decades later that his proposal was never delivered."
When we probed further, he simply stated, "Plagiarism is not my style."
