Finally the results are out! It’s a pleasure to announce that Fenil’s Half Yearly Awards is getting bigger and bigger as each year passes. I did expect that there would be an increase in the number of voters this year. Yet, I was highly and pleasantly surprised! A bigggg thank you to all the people who took out time to vote and to also recommend to their movie buff friends, colleagues and acquaintances!

Like last year, this year too saw some Bollywood celebrities coming out to show support to the awards by retweeting/favouriting the URL of the Half-Yearly Awards. Needless to say, it really helped a lot in increasing the number of votes. This is a great feat and I am sure in the years to come, many more celebrities would come out in great numbers to show whole-supported to this unique awards system!

Now to the results! It was an unpredictable situation in certain categories and the clear winner was difficult to anticipate till the last day! In few categories, though, the winner was clear. The first surprise was the director of Hasee Toh Phasee, Vinil Mathew, not only winning the Best Debut Director, but also the Best Director award. Queen was undoubtedly the top choice for Best Film and same goes for Kangana Ranaut for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female), though Parineeti Chopra too get a significant number of votes for her performance in Hasee Toh Phasee. Tiger Shroff became the butt of many jokes but that didn't stop him from getting almost 53% votes in Best Debut (Male) category. The toughest fight was between Parth Bhalerao (Bhoothnath Returns) and Partho Gupte (Hawaa Hawaai) in Best Child Artiste category. Finally, Partho was defeated by mere 2 votes. However, the biggest surprise of the season was Mohit Suri's Ek Villain winning in 8 out of 15 categories. The film won in all five music categories, including an award for actress Shraddha Kapoor in Best F Playback Singer category! Incidentally, Suri's Aashiqui 2 too emerged victorious in the music section last year. Riteish Deshmukh garnered 64.43% votes in Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) - the highest %age of votes won by anyone this year.
