Mirror was the first to report (on February 7) that Ekta Kapoor is planning a version of Romeo Juliet with a homosexual spin. The film will be directed by Danish Aslam.
However, the project was put on the backburner as the script, which was being co-written by Anu Menon, had turned out to be too risky.
Now, Mirror has learnt that Anu Menon has moved away and Ishita Moitra, who wrote the dialogue of Ragini MMS 2, will be stepping in to work on the script. Romil Juggal is about two guys from warring families falling in love. It will feature newcomers.
Confirming the same, Danish said: "The script had to undergo some changes, which is why it got delayed. The film was never shelved. We're back to the writing and almost close to the finish. Once the script locked, we will start casting."
Asked if it's a modern-day story set in Mumbai, Danish said: "It's set in India, I can't reveal more. It's a mature love story about two men--something which hasn't been properly attempted in Hindi cinema.
