Ekta Kapoor has acquired the films rights of Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s book, The Devotion Of Suspect X. She plans to soon make a film based on this book.
But there have been reports about the Malyalam film Drishyam being based on a plot similar to that outlined in the book. A source says, “Many elements in the film are similar to those in Keigo Higashino’s book. The film, a super hit in Malyalam, has been made in Kannada and Telegu, and it is now being made in Tamil featuring Kamal Hassan. When Ekta got to know that the film is based on the book that she has purchased movie rights for, she was upset. She has sent a legal notice to the producers now.”
The source adds that Ekta’s team has watched the film and deduced that it is a film adaptation of the novel. Ekta Kapoor was unavailable for comment.
