Bhagwan Dada, the 1930s
actor, whose dance steps from the song Bholi Soorat Dil Ke Khote Amitabh
Bachchan emulates to the day, inspired director Niranjan
Patwardhan to make a biopic on him titled Ek Tha Albela.
But trade sources say that even as the preparations for the shoot were underway , the producer, Dr Mohnish Babre, and the director had a bitter fall-out. As a result, the film may be shelved.
Known as Shankar Abbaji Palav, Bhagwan dada's life was one of those rags-to-riches stories. His end came in a chawl in Dadar. The area has also been named after him.
