Bhansali woos Kangana for a musical

Mirror was the first to report that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had parked himself opposite Moulin Rouge in Paris last December looking for "inspiration" for his next magnum opus (December 7, 2013). The film in question is not the Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer Bajirao Mastani, but another musical which the maverick filmmaker is planning with Kangana Ranaut in the lead.

Revealed a source, "Before Kangana left for New York to complete her screenwriting course, she had a hush-hush meeting with Bhansali at his office where they discussed collaborating on a film together."

Kangana has never been seen in an extravagant musical, a quintessential Bhansali territory. Added the source, "Bhansali wanted to work with Kangana for a while now but only recently came up with the perfect script. The two have met in the past but this time they got together to specifically discuss this film. She's liked the idea and has expressed her interest to be a part of the film which will flag off only in late 2015."

Bhansali by then would be done with Bajirao Mastani and Kangana too will have wrapped up the two films she has committed - Aanand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu sequel and Sai Kabir's Divine Lovers with Irrfan Khan.
