While there have been speculations of Malaika Arora Khan doing an item song in Dolly Ki Doli starring Sonam Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat and Rajkummar Rao, her husband and producer Arbaaz Khan now confirms that she will be a part of his film.

Most of Malaika’s song have been choreographed by her close friend, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan. However, this time Farah won’t choreograph her as she is completing her own film. Says Arbaaz, “Currently, Malaika is in the US and will come back and shoot for the item song in the first week of July. We had asked Farah to choreograph the song but she is busy with her shoot and won’t be available on those dates. We are in the process of finalising a choreographer. The song, composed by Sajid-Wajid, has lyrics which begin... Fashion Khatam, Khatam Mujh Par... Basically something like I am the ultimate of fashion. I’m hoping it will be another chartbuster number like Munni and Pandeyji. It’s a masti-bhara, rustic, peppy, high-energy song with an earthy flavour which will be picturised on Malaika and Rajkummar. It’s not a club song. Dolly Ki Doli, which is a drama-comedy, will cater to both sensibilities — the single-screen and multiplex audiences.”

Last year, Malaika made a statement saying she was done with item songs. However, she always makes exceptions for her hubby. Because he considers her a lucky mascot? Arbaaz reveals that he and Malaika have a unique understanding of the best dance numbers for her, “I know what song befits her and she trusts me on that. If I know I have a great song and she will do justice to it, I will ask her. When she was asked to do her first song, Chaiyyan Chaiyyan in Dil Se I urged her to do it. She trusts me for choosing the right kind of songs for her and I trust her dancing ability.”

For Rajkummar, Arbaaz adds, “You will see him in a very different character from what he usually plays. What he dances to will be according to his comfort level and has to befit the character he plays. He is a guy with money from a small town and not an awara sadakchaap guy.” Will the song in DKD be as big as Munni? “I am not competing with Dabangg. Every film has its own strength and genre. The song will be done befitting what the film needs.”
