The producer of Bangla film, Khokhababu, has sent a legal notice to the makers and the composer of Humshakals, alleging copyright infringement in the latter’s song, Caller Tune. It seems that the former has asked them to refrain from including the song in the film that is slated to release today.
In a legal notice sent to Vashu Bhagnani, Fox Star Studios, Himesh Reshammiya and Zee Music, the lawyer representing Himanshu Dhanuka, of Eskay Movies that has produced Khokhababu, has clearly stated that composer Himesh Reshammiya has blatantly copied music from Khokhababu’s song, Soniye Tu Janiye Tu without the permission of the makers of the film.
It further states that if the producers of Humshakals don’t edit out Caller Tune from the film, Eskay Movies will initiate appropriate proceedings to seek a restraining order against them.
It may be recalled here that Rishi Chanda, who has composed the songs for Khokhababu, including Soniye Tu Janiye Tu, had first sent a letter to producer Vashu Bhagnani bringing to his notice the similarities between his song and Caller Tune. This was followed by reports that Reshammiya was contemplating suing Chanda instead.
