WILL FUGLY IMPRESS VIEWERS?
Akshay Kumar started his 2nd production house, Grazing Goat Pictures, in 2012 and its first film was the very successful OMG Oh My God. It was then followed by the acclaimed Marathi film 72 Miles – Ek Pravas. And Fugly, that releases tomorrow, will be Grazing Goat’s third film. Though it looks like an entertainer, the makers assure that there’s more to the film and that it tackles social issues as well.
Fugly stars Mohit Marwah, nephew of Anil Kapoor and cousin of Arjun and Sonam Kapoor along with boxer Vijender Singh, Kiara Advani and Arfi Lamba. Jimmy Sheirgill is the antagonist. Producer Akshay Kumar makes a cameo in the title song along with Salman Khan. The trailers and songs have received a mixed response. Hence, a big opening is definitely ruled out. But a positive word of mouth can prove beneficial, especially in the North where the film is based.
Co-incidentally, a similar film released last year, Fukrey, and that too in the second week of June. Like Fugly, Fukrey was based in North India, dealt with four friends and how their life changes after they mess up with the villainous Richa Chadda. In Fugly, it’s Jimmy Sheirgill who plays the villain. What’s more, Fukrey also didn’t carry strong buzz before release and its fortunes changed thanks to a positive word of mouth. And just like Fugly, Fukrey too was an entertainer with a social angle!
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE FUGLY AND WHY? DO LET ME KNOW!
