A fun and quirky
slice-of-life comedy, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi (KMKJHG), set in
Delhi, follows on the heels of Balaji's past successful films like Love
Sex Aur Dhokha, Shor In The City, Ragini MMS and Ragini MMS-2. It goes
on to show that 'small is big' has been a winning mantra for Balaji and
Alt Entertainment for some time now.
In recent years, Bollywood has witnessed a spate of small-budget films, with fresh faces and content that not only bagged critical acclaim, but also became box office hits. KMKJHG is yet another effort in that direction.
Says producer Ekta Kapoor, “In addition to producing big star-packed films, as a studio, it is just as important to be a part of the alternate landscape. KMKJHG is an endearing, humorous and entertaining film, financially safe and appealing to a universal audience. It promises to put a smile on your face.”
Says debutant director, Aman Sachdeva, “It is a light-hearted film with a universally acceptable storyline. It is relatable and talks about two teenagers, who are guided for what they are going to do next after Class XII.” He further says, “New-age films bring interesting ways of storytelling to the fore and inject quirk into their narrative. Also, small budget films have a bigger canvas to play with.”
Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, produced by Ekta Kapoor and Bejoy Nambiar, releases May 30.
