In Jal, his latest outing, Purab Kohli plays Bakka, a water-diviner, a role he took up because of director Girish Malik. He says, “We’d worked in a TV show before.” To get into the skin of the character, Purab spent a week in Bhuj to learn the nuances before the shoot commenced. “I tried to understand the local lifestyle, language and even learnt to ride a camel without a saddle,” the actor says.
Purab is now busy with three projects. “Tere Aane Se, directed by Agnidev Chatterjee, releases in September. An international project will see me team up with Girish again.” Says Malik, “Purab has great potential. If he gets the right films and directors, he will go places.”
The actor will also be seen in Rock On 2, for which he will begin shooting next year. Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd says, “Purab’s performance in Jal is natural and effortless. We are looking forward to working with him in Rock On 2.”
