Actress Veena Malik has blamed her ex-boyfriend Prashant Singh for hacking her microblogging account and posting anti-India tweets. On Saturday, the Pakistani model and actress was trending on the micro-blogging site for a tweet, which read, ‘@iVeenaMalik: India sucks.....!!!’ (sic).’

When we contacted Veena, who’s currently in Dubai, she said, “My account was hacked in December last year by my digital manager from India, Prashant, who is part of a Mumbai-based web service company. I had a three-year contract with his company, but after two years, I chose to discontinue the association. The company continued to keep a track of my account, but after I got married, Prashant started blackmailing me. He started demanding money and said that he would not give me my account details otherwise.”

Veena says she did not take any legal action against him since she was no longer in India after getting married to Asad Bashir Khan, a Dubai-based businessman. “I was not travelling to India at that time, since I was busy with the wedding functions. But, now this has been blown out of proportion. This morning, I woke up and saw this tweet. Though my husband is very supportive, it is embarrassing to trend for such a reason,” she added. Incidentally, Prashant has also tweeted, ‘@iPrashantSingh: I can make ppl trend.......(sic).’ Despite repeated attempts, he could not be reached.

Pointing out India’s contribution to her career, Veena said, “India has given me a career and a lot of respect. I have been an ambassador of sorts between India and Pakistan. Obviously, I love my country more, but I have immense respect for India. I have always been transparent and this is not what I would expect in return.” The actress has issued a legal notice against Prashant and has also spoken to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt about the incident. “My husband and I spoke to Mahesh Bhatt saab and we were told to ignore such incidents,” she added.

Veena had earlier been linked with Prashant and the two had broken up on an ugly note.
