Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (MID-DAY; March 1, 2014)

Murli Sharma loves to experiment with his roles. And this time around, he has volunteered to tonsure his head for a pivotal role in Mahesh Manjrekar’s remake of the Marathi film, Kaksparsh. The film, to be made in Hindi and Tamil, is a period drama based in the early 19th century.

Says the actor, “I lapped up the offer the moment I heard the narration. I play Upadhyay, the antagonist. Mahesh said he would get a wig made for me, but we realised eventually that it would look fake. Then, without wasting a second, I volunteered to go bald. However, on the day I had to shave off my hair, I went weak in my knees for a brief moment. I felt I should have thought over my decision for a day at least, but now, I feel I was right.”

The actor says he doesn’t step out of the house since he has gone bald. “Not that I am shy, but I am not used to the look,” says he.
