Almost all of us have heard the phrase, ‘hasee toh phasee’.

Sidharth Malhotra, who plays Nikhil in director Vinil Mathew’s Hasee Toh Phasee, shares some dos to make the girl smile…

Be chivalrous. In times when women complain that chivalry is dead, a gentleman will always score high. So, remember to open doors and pull chairs for your lady and watch her smile.

Surprise her. Women love surprises! So surprise her (even if it’s a flower and not a diamond ring) and see the magic.

Be goofy. Though women like men, not boys, a little goofiness, when she least expects it, is sure to make her smile.

Be nice. Everyone can be illogical and sometimes self-centred. Love the person anyway... a smile is guaranteed.

A good, tight hug. A bear hug when she is feeling low is a sure-fire trigger to those pearly whites.

On her part, Parineeti Chopra, who plays Meeta in the romcom, suggests ways to bring a smile to a guy’s face.

Have a sense of humour, ladies. It’s most important. It serves as our mental matchmaker, defuses awkward situations, identifies common ground, shows your spine and makes him smile.

Join him in his gaming fixation. If you want to make your guy smile, roll up your sleeves and join him in playing a video game.

Be a foodie. Guys love a girl who eats heartily. Spending an extra hour in the gym will be totally worth it when you see his big smile.

Send him a random text message in the middle of the day. This might not be free, depending on your cell phone plan, but it’s still of great value.

Listen to his ideas. Hearing what he has to say matters to him. And if he gets angry, keep out of his way until he calms down. It will be followed by a sure-shot smile.

Hasee Toh Phasee, produced by Dharma Productions and Phantom Films, releases February 7.
