Ranbir Kapoor’s presence in Roy is proving to be a thorn in Arjun Rampal’s side, suggest trade sources. When the movie was first announced, it was said that Ranbir would have a special appearance, while Arjun would be the hero. But now, it is being said that in the revised draft, RK Jr’s role has grown stronger, much to the rumoured discomfort of Arjun.
However, debutant director Vikramjit Singh denies the rumours. “I don’t think Arjun resents anything. The script has undergone a lot of changes like it usually happens. Like any other script, this one also needed some adjustments and changes and Ranbir’s role has turned meatier,” he says.
Initially, Arjun also threw the ball in the director’s court, but later issued a customary denial. “I love the script and my part and am super excited to start shooting,” he said.
Interestingly, Ranbir himself had clearly stated last year that Roy was not his film. “It’s is not my film. I play a supporting character, and the lead actors are Arjun and Jacqueline,” the actor had said.
Vikramjit, however, has a different story to tell. “I have always maintained that Ranbir has got a very important role. In fact, he plays the title character. It is certainly not a special appearance. Both, Ranbir and Arjun share equal space,” he says.
