After Dabangg 2, Arbaaz Khan is focussing on expanding his home banner, Arbaaz Khan Productions. For his upcoming woman-centric film, the producer-actor has signed Sonam Kapoor to play the lead. The film is called Dolly Ki Doli, and will be directed by debutant Abhishek Dogra, who had previously assisted R Balki on Paa.
Sonam will be seen playing the titular role of Dolly, a spunky North Indian girl in the film, which is expected to go on floors in January 2014. It will be shot across the Northern heartland. There are three more significant characters, who will be cast soon.
When contacted, Arbaaz confirmed the news. “We wanted a girl who can do justice to the character. I’m happy to have Sonam onboard. When we narrated the script to her, she admitted that she could instantly identify with Dolly. ”
He revealed that the film is a quirky drama with a strong comedic element. “It is one aspect of Sonam’s personality, which hasn’t been explored. If all goes well, we will be ready for release by the end of next year,” he said.
