During the making of Kites, Kangana Ranaut had famously fallen out with the film’s director Anurag Basu who had launched her with the 2005-hit Gangster. She slammed him saying her role didn’t turn out the way it was narrated to her and the film’s other heroine, Barbara Mori, was given more screen space.

Five years after the fallout, the two have reconciled. A close friend of the actress told Mirror that just before she left for a vacation in New York, Anurag called and set up a meeting. “The request caught Kangana off-guard because it was a while since they spoke. Even at social dos they did not interact. But this time they spoke at length and sorted out the miscommunication. Anurag told her that he was under pressure while filming Kites and Kangana admitted that she regretted not having spoken to him for so long.,” adds the source.

What made Anurag call her out of the blue? “He watched the rushes of Queen and couldn’t resist letting her know how much he liked her in the film. Despite what happened, he was always proud of the fact that he was the one who gave her a break,” the friend reasoned.
