Two production houses come together for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's comeback film Jazbaa

BOMBAY TIMES (December 12, 2014)

Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa that marks Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's comeback to Bollywood will go on the floor in January 2015. What's interesting is that the movie that also has Irrfan, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher, is part of a multifilm deal between Gupta's White Feather Films and Essel Vision Productions Ltd (EVPL), the creative and production studio of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL).

In a span of three years, Essel Vision has emerged as a state-of-the-art studio that deals with filmmaking, promotions, advertising, distribution and revenue-generating streams. Having built a dynamic portfolio of regional cinema in Marathi and Bengali, it is now venturing into mainstream commercial Hindi cinema.

Nitin Keni (CEO, Essel Vision), who has produced successful films like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and many more in the past, says, “Jazbaa is a great script that is full of emotional texture and develops into a human story. The partnership is a perfect fit for both companies and I believe that together, we will be in a better position to deliver compelling and entertaining content to global audiences.“

Sanjay Gupta is happy about the association between his company White Feather Films and Essel Vision, the production studio of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL). The writer-filmmaker, known for action thrillers like Kaante, Shootout At Lokhandwala and Shootout At Wadala, says, “Having one of the largest Indian television conglomerates backing you is a dream come true for any production house. Also, from doing fast-paced action entertainers, I'm looking forward to making this film as it's a gripping, yet touching drama.“

Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Films, known for its dark thrillers, is now ready to spread its wings. After signing Milap Zaveri, who has scripted around nine films for him including Kaante and Shootout at Wadala, to direct the banner’s first comedy, Gupta has roped in Bhushan Patel for a chilling thriller.

Confirming the news Gupta said: “Bhushan and I have been friends since we were in college. He started out as an assistant cameraman while I was an assistant director. He then turned to cinematography while I went on to make movies. Now that he has become a director too, I thought we should make a film together.”

Gupta is waiting for Bhushan's Ragini MMS 2 to release before he can sit and develop the idea which he has in mind. “It’s a supernatural thriller and will send shivers down your spine,” promises Gupta.
