TIGER ZINDA HAI recorded had very strong first week with collections of 206 crore nett making it the third highest opening week of all time after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and Sultan. It has also become the highest grossing film of 2017 outside BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION in just one week. The film had opened to very strong collections and has held on supremely well over the week, the holds look even stronger if as its a mass action film but holding more like a social drama content film. Barring Tamil Nadu/Kerala the numbers are exceptional in all circuits and has gone way past GOLMAAL AGAIN in all circuits barring Mumbai. The film is looking a 300 crore nett plus film and the biggest outright Hindi BLOCKBUSTER of 2017 but it will be second Friday that will confirm this.

TIGER ZINDA HAI had another huge number coming on Tuesday as it grossed 17.50 crore nett apprx and took its six day total to over 190 crore nett. It may well emerge the highest outright Hindi film in just a week. The collections have still not dropped more than 50% of its first day and if this is intact at the find of the week then it then it would be extraordinary especially considering this genre is front loaded. The single screens have seen the best results for an Xmas release though multiplex business at the main chains is lower than DANGAL and PK. Some of the independent multiplexes could also see the highest business ever. TIGER ZINDA HAI had a fantastic Tuesday as it collected over 21 crore nett with collections around the 21.50 crore nett mark. Its an excellent hold from Friday which was 34 crore nett making the drop just 37% and this is Tuesday not Monday. Even from a national holiday yesterday the drop is just 41%. This is great trending especially for an action film which are front loaded. The total so far is close to 173 crore nett and the week should be going above 200 crore nett to around 205 crore nett or maybe more. The Friday figure will tell where the film can go and it seems like emerging the biggest hit for the Hindi film industry of the year but it will be Friday that will confirm this. The film is performing excellent all over with Delhi/UP leading the way with film becoming the highest grosser of 2017 in just five days not including BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION. Rajasthan is also super strong despite protests in some areas.

TIGER ZINDA HAI recorded the highest Monday of all time as far as outright Hindi films go with 36.50 crore nett apprx. It fell a short of the BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION record Monday number of 40.25 but is still a massive number and far bigger than any other film and bigger than the first day of all films barring BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO. The total of the film is a huge 151 crore nett plus and could hit the 200 crore nett mark in a week. This would make it 200 crore first grossers for Salman Khan and the only major to have collected 200 crore nett in a week. The first big test for the film will be Tuesday as its coming of a huge weekend and a holiday Monday. A strong hold on Tuesday will ensure the film has a good sustaining at the box office till Republic Day in the end of Jan.

TIGER ZINDA HAI set a Hindi film industry record as it grossed close to 115 crore nett over the first weekend with the collections on Sunday being phenomenal. The collections are huge all over with film being driven by the core Hindi audience be it multiplexes and single screens. The high end multiplexes were less and lower than last years Xmas release DANGAL but the Salman Khan and action factor made sure it easily scored over DANGAL in the opening weekend as the mass audience came out in numbers. The only circuit which is not huge is Tamil Nadu/Kerala but its not the core Hindi film audience there so makes little difference to the overall picture. The trend of the film is very strong as it managed to show growth on Saturday despite a strong start and Sunday went to another level. It is a national holiday on Monday so it will record another big day and looking at the weekend trend it should take advantage of the post Xmas period and sustain into January.

TIGER ZINDA HAI is looking set to deliver for the industry as it managed to get around 5% growth on its second day from a very strong start. The mass areas showed limited drops which enabled the film to hold strongly on its second day. There could have been drops of 20-25% considering how the film started in these areas but it more towards the 10% mark. The bigger city multiplexes managed to improve well on day two as there was good potential for growth there. The film now has two holidays in Sunday and Monday to rack up the numbers. The film will grow further on Sunday and it could be 10% or even 20% or even more. Then there will be the holiday for Christmas on Monday which should help but single screens do not perform on the Christmas holiday like they do on a Eid or Diwali holiday. This will affect TIGER ZINDA HAI more than a DANGAL, PK or Bajirao Mastani as it has a higher ratio of business coming from single screens than those films. TIGER ZINDA HAI is a HIT for sure and remains to be seen how much higher this status goes over the next week or two.
