FIRANGI had a very poor first week of 9.75 crore nett with and with the weekend being under 6.50 crore nett that pretty much sealed the fate of FIRANGI. The hero of the film Kapil Sharma does have popularity among the audience and is a recognized face but its with an image of a comedian and this film was not presented as a comedy. That is not to say a comedy with Kapil Sharma will work for sure but it will give you a better chance than any other genre with him. The collections are a little better in the North but considering the base of the film it is expected but collections in East Punjab and Delhi/UP are still very dull.

FIRANGI is unlikely to add much business in week two as it is out of most theaters and it is possible that films like JUSTICE LEAGUE and TUMHARI SULU could have better collections in their fourth weeks as compared to the second week of FIRANGI.

The other release TERA INTEZAAR had very limited collections of 2.25 crore nett. This sort of cinema is dated has no chance to score in metros while it has no face value for A, B and C centers. Overall the performance was better in UP but the disastrous fate in NCR meant that overall the Delhi/UP market remained a big dud. Though better than the other circuits.

FIRANGI dropped further on Tuesday as it collected 85 lakhs nett apprx, It has taken the film five days to hit the first day business of KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON and the lifetime business of FIRANGI will be less than the two day business of KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON. FIRANGI had a low weekend of a 6.30 crore nett apprx. There was reasonable growth on Sunday but that was probably because Saturday was pretty flat. The content films like FIRANGI should be looking at 100% Friday to Sunday going by how the box office is working at present. Here it is just 40% which is far too less. FIRANGI has done a little better in East Punjab and Delhi NCR but even here the collections are not good. The film is looking a one week runner in most places going by the weekend trend. FIRANGI fared poorly on day one with collections in the range of 1.75-2 crore nett. This compares very badly with the last film of Kapil Sharma KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON which grossed a little under 8 crore nett on day one. This is the sort of difference that a certain image associated with a personality makes. A decently budgeted comedy film with Kapil Sharma who is a major star on television will get double these FIRANGI numbers on a worse case scenario. The film also did not the sort of pick up in the evening to suggest that it can really sustain. Yes there will be growth on Saturday and could even be good but that is the norm for every other film and today the Saturday can decide.

The film has fared better in Delhi/UP and East Punjab with collections of 50 lakhs nett and 30 lakhs nett respectively on day one but collections in Mumbai are poor with the final total looking to finish less than Delhi/UP or on best case scenario the same. Basically the all India first day collections of Firangi are similar to the the Delhi/UP first day collections of KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON.

The other release of the week which managed to get some screen time was TERA INTEZAAR and this film has grossed a poor 40-45 lakhs nett. The film has fared a little better in the cities of Uttar Pradesh.
