Supergirl starts on an interesting note, setting the mood neatly and providing a prime reason for the protagonist to pursue the villain. The story of her past adds a nice touch, while the character of Lobo (Jason Momoa) contributes to the madness. On the flipside, the humour is limited and the film gives a been-there-done-that feeling. It looks like a poor man's Guardians Of The Galaxy and another plot point gives a déjà vu of Mad Max. Milly Alcock (Kara aka Supergirl) delivers a performance which is authentic, subtle and yet effective. Eve Ridley (Ruthye) also puts her best foot forward. Jason Momoa is very entertaining. Matthias Schoenaerts (Krem) suffers from weak characterization; the villain is one-dimensional. David Corenswet (Superman) is decent and one wishes he had more to do. David Krumholtz (Zor-El) and Emily Beecham (Alura In-Ze) do very well as Supergirl's parents. All in all, Supergirl is a disappointing film.

Amy Jackson was recently offered Lisa Haydon’s part in the South remake of Queen. Our source reveals, “Amy was approached for the role in the remake, but that didn’t work out.” The Kangana Ranaut film is now being remade in four languages — Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Amy confirms, “I really wanted to be a part of the project. It’s a fun, fierce role. I loved Lisa Haydon’s role in the Hindi version and thought I could do justice to it for the remake.” She expressed unavailability of dates as the reason for opting out. Amy says, “It didn’t work out because of the schedule for Supergirl. It didn’t work out creatively.” Amy will be playing Saturn Girl in the superhero drama series, who arrives on Earth to help Supergirl against one of her biggest threats.

Role increased
While Lisa’s role in the Hindi version was a prominent one, where she played the second lead to Kangana and helped her in her journey of rediscovering herself, the makers even offered to extend the role if Amy agreed to do the film. She says, “I met the director and producer several times. They, in fact, developed my character more.” But our source reveals that Amy wasn’t happy with her character sketch in the final draft, even after the changes were made and hence she declined the offer.

Money matters
The actress was offered a huge sum to take up the role. Our source tells us, “The makers were extremely keen on casting Amy as they felt that she would suit the role. They even offered her a Rs 4 crore to come on board, but she didn’t agree.”
