SUI DHAAGA had a good first week as it collected 62 crore nett which is the sisth best first week of the year. The film got benefit of Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday which gave the film a good boost but there was drop post the holiday and it saw normal weekday trending post the holiday.

The first week has ensured the film is a success and now the eight day will tell where the film can go. The film also say decent collections in Overseas with a little under $2.50 million. The worldwide numbers are around the 100 crore mark in seven days.

PATAAKHA had a poor week as it collected 7 crore nett. The collections are in the same range as MUKKABAAZ but that film did not have a national holiday. MUKKABAAZ which was a dud grossed 10.63 crore nett in its lifetime and its unlikely that PATAAKHA can reach that mark and will probably fall short of 10 crore nett.

SUI DHAAGA had a fair Wednesday of 3.75 crore nett as it came off the holiday period. The collections are 55% down from its first day on Friday which means on real value the collections on Monday were down 40-45% from Friday.

This is the first noticeable drop in its run but the job is done with almost 59 crore nett on the board. The films which are similar social types to SUI DHAAGA are TOILET - EK PREM KATHA, PAD MAN and PARMANU. It has no chance to beat TOILET - EK PREM KATHA but should beat PARMANU in a couple of days time and also eventually cross PAD MAN. The first week of the film should be around 62 crore nett which will be the sixth best of 2018.

SUI DHAAGA took full advantage of the national holiday for Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday and racked up a huge 11.50 crore nett and has taken the five day total of the film to 55 crore nett. The strongest business for the film is Delhi/UP which saw a huge jump on Tuesday.

The film is in the money as all theatrical revenue be it India or Overseas is profit but now it remains to be seen how the film can sustain as multiplex tickets will drop from today which will affect collections. The lack of music did affect the start of the film but it has made up a lot of ground to be at 55 crore nett in five days after a 8 crore net plus start.

SUI DHAAGA had a super strong hold on Monday as it collected 7 crore nett to take its four day total to 43.50 crore nett. The drop is just 15% from Friday and it did get a boost in the evening but even if we allow for that the real value of the drop will be no more than 30-35% which is excellent for a Monday.

There is the big holiday and collections no doubt will be strong and a decent number on Wednesday will ensure a HIT film. The film has already covered its cost from satellite, digital and music and now the the India theatrical could do repeat and also cover the production cost  which would mean earning more than double the cost as Overseas will be added also.

SUI DHAAGA had a good weekend as it collected 36.50 crore nett with collections showing big growth on Saturday and importantly on Sunday as well. The film has basically doubled the first day collections on Sunday.

The growth over the weekend has come in all the circuits and with the big holiday to come on Tuesday it will come out for a good week. The film is all set to be another winner for Varun Dhawan who has a good record record at the box office with the plus being that most of his winners have come without the top directors of the industry. Its a very consistent filmography while with some other younger stars the pluses come when the director also has a position of his own. This film did not have the commercial elements of JUDWAA 2 or BADRINATH KI DULHANIA but has still come out with good weekend numbers

PATAAKHA grossed a low 3.75 crore over the weekend. There was growth over the weeeknd but it had to be much more due to a low starting. The weekend business and trend is very similar to a film on similar lines earlier this year MUKKABAAZ.

SUI DHAAGA is heading towards being a major winner at the box office as it showed a very good trend on Saturday with collections jumping around 50% form Friday. The collections have come out even higher than early estimates yesterday evening as it collected 12.25 crore nett apprx. This has taken the film to 20.50 crore nett but more important than that is the trend and the huge jump.

The growth was across the board with even places like Bihar and CP Berar growing over 30% which is excellent for a Saturday considering they are dominated by single screens. When these places show growth as well as the big multiplexes then its a good sign for the long run. Nowadays nearly all films get the Saturday growth but what separates the good ones is when growth comes all over like SUI DHAAGA.

The extra growth also probably came as day one was hit by the match and real value collections on day one were probably around 9.50 crore nett but even allowing for that the film has shown an up turn of 30% and its wide release not a 1000-1500 screen release where growth is easier as you have  not released in the theaters which struggle for Saturday growth.

PATAAKHA also showed growth of around 50% on Saturday but from much lower numbers. The film collected 1.25 crore nett taking its total to 2 crore nett plus. As it has released on lesser screens than SUI DHAAGA, it should have shown more growth than that film.
