It seems to be true of Aryan Khan’s debut series, Stardom, as well. mid-day has learnt that the first-time writer-director began shooting an award function scene in Mehboob Studios in Bandra yesterday. Sources tell us that as many as 18 stars have been lined up for the sequence.

On Friday, Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Shanaya Kapoor filmed their portions. A source reveals further, “On Saturday, Aryan will shoot with his superstar-father Shah Rukh Khan, Sara Ali Khan, and social media influencer Orhan Awatramani aka Orry. Stardom, slated to drop on Netflix next year, has been described as the story of “an ambitious outsider navigating the glitzy yet tricky world of Bollywood.”

Barely a week after the grand announcement of his directorial debut, Aryan Khan has stepped on the campus of Whistling Woods International to shoot the final leg of his series, tentatively titled Stardom. Sources say that the first-time director has a seven-day schedule lined up in the film institute located in Goregaon, after which the unit will move to another venue for a brief period before calling it a wrap.

The show is led by Mona Singh and Lakshya. A source reveals, “On Sunday, Aryan kicked off the patch schedule, in which he will largely take some location shots and can some scenes. It’s a busy summer for Shah Rukh Khan and son Aryan Khan. While the superstar is caught up with the ongoing Indian Premier League, Aryan is shooting the final leg of Stardom. Sources say that the first-time director took over the sprawling Royal Palms in Goregaon late last week to complete a five-day schedule. If things go as planned, Aryan will call it a wrap on the web series by May-end.

A source tells us that Stardom’s team has been filming at a brisk pace. “Aryan was shooting all through April, the locations changing from a studio in Andheri East to Madh Island, and now Royal Palms. The shoot will go on at the Goregaon venue till the end of the week before moving to another location. Simultaneously, Aryan has been overseeing the editing. Though there is no rush on the show’s delivery, the team is keen to release it by the year-end.”

For his maiden directorial venture, Aryan has chosen a subject he knows well. The six-episode series, which went on floors in June 2023, takes a look into the glitzy world of the Hindi film industry. While Lakshya leads the highly anticipated project, it boasts a string of cameo appearances, beginning with Shah Rukh to Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

Last year, it was reported that actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan’s directorial debut outing, Stardom, features Mona Singh in a significant role. Now, we have learnt that the actor is currently shooting for the web series in Goa. A source says, “The Goa schedule is a long one. Earlier, she shot for the project in Mumbai and Delhi. The details about her role are not known yet.”

Talking about the kind of director Aryan is on set, the insider adds, “He is overlooking things to ensure nothing from the set leaks online. He is known for explaining the scenes well, hence the cast finds it very easy to work with him. His vision is very clear.”

Stardom is said to have six episodes and actors Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Bobby Deol and SRK, and filmmaker Karan Johar, are likely to have cameos in it. Set against the backdrop of the film industry, Aryan has written the script.

We reached out to Mona for a comment, but were not met with a response till the time of going to press.

Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s Jawan stayed true to audience expectations, and exploded at the box-office, becoming this year’s biggest blockbuster so far. Over a month since the vigilante actioner’s release, the superstar is back on the set for his son. Sources say the actor has begun shooting for Aryan Khan’s maiden web series, Stardom. The current leg is being conducted at Andheri’s Chitrakoot Grounds, which has bounced back in business after the July 2022 blaze.

A source from the unit reveals, “Since the project rolled in June, we have had Khan saab on set on a few occasions, but this is the first time he is facing the camera. He will shoot a critical sequence that depicts an awards gala. The scenes will be filmed over the next three days.”

The six-episode web series is one of the most eagerly awaited projects in Indian digital entertainment as it sees Aryan foraying into Bollywood as a director. The show’s title aptly reflects its theme, as it takes an incisive look into the glitzy, enigmatic world of the movie industry. Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor have shot for their cameos in the series.

It has only been 10 days since the release of their much-loved Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, but Karan Johar and his leading man Ranveer Singh are back at work together. This time around, both are facing the camera. We hear the actor and the filmmaker, on Monday, shot for an elaborate sequence for Aryan Khan’s debut web series, the working title of which is Stardom.

With this, Singh becomes the latest star, after Ranbir Kapoor, to make a cameo in what is one of the most anticipated web series. A source from the unit reveals, “Karan and Ranveer reported on the set around 2 pm. The duo shot for a grand party sequence at Imperial Palace Hotel in Goregaon. The filming went on for the next eight hours, with the cast and crew calling it a day only by 10 pm.”

With his maiden directorial venture that went on floors in June, Aryan—son to superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan—will offer a fictionalized account of the Hindi film industry. A chunk of the six-part series, led by Laksh Lalwani, was canned at a Bandra bungalow last month. Insiders suggest Aryan will wrap up the principal shoot in November.

June 2 will remain a red-letter day for Aryan Khan for years to come. Following months of pre-production, the first-time director took his web series — the working title of which is Stardom — on floors yesterday. The production team reported to a co-working space in Century Mills, Worli, at 7 am, with Khan arriving well before the call-time. On the cards was the shoot of a few office sequences.

A source from the unit tells mid-day, “The space will be the setting for a few office scenes. Another floor in the same building has been booked, where the team will shoot a lounge sequence in the next few days. The set, with a cast and crew of almost 350 people, was buzzing with energy.”

For his maiden directorial venture, Khan has turned to a subject that he knows intimately — Bollywood. The six-part series, which stars Lakshya Lalwani, offers a fictionalized account of the Hindi film industry. Shah Rukh Khan, who is producing the series, dropped by to wish his director-son on the first day of shoot.

Filmmaker-family friend Karan Johar was in attendance too. We hear Johar has a cameo in the offering. The unit hand adds, “Karan’s scenes are lined up for the first three days. He plays a leading producer, a character based on himself.”

Dostana 2 actor Lakshya Lalwani is frontrunner for Aryan Khan’s maiden web series?

From one Aaryan to another?

Sources say Lakshya, who was to foray into movies alongside Kartik in Dostana 2, is frontrunner for Aryan Khan’s maiden web series
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; May 25, 2023)

All eyes have been on Aryan Khan ever since news of his directorial debut started circulating earlier this year. The web series, the working title of which is reportedly Stardom, is among the most awaited B-Town projects. The first-time director has long been scouting for the lead, with over 800 people having auditioned for it. Now, we hear that Khan may have found his leading man in Lakshya Lalwani.

Sources say that the six-part series, which is set against the backdrop of the Hindi film industry, was originally scheduled to go on floors this month. However, it has been pushed by a few weeks.

A source reveals, “The casting process took long. Aryan is clear about the kind of actor he wants. Those who showed promise in the initial rounds, were made to undergo six to eight rounds of audition, including screen tests and in-person. Lakshya is the frontrunner. Three more actors will be locked by the weekend.”

Lalwani featured in some television shows, before catching everyone’s attention with his titular role in Porus. In 2019, he bagged Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 — also starring Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor — that was to mark his Bollywood debut. However, the film was put on the backburner in 2021, after which Lalwani was roped in for Johar’s Bedhadak. The drama has yet to roll.
