Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam suffered a heart attack in Srinagar where he was on a holiday with his close friends. The 58-year-old is known for films such as Roja and Bombay.

Ratnam was playing golf at the Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar around 1 pm on Sunday when he complained of chest-pain and was immediately rushed to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, about 7 km away from the state's capital.

A source familiar with the development told Mirror that the director stayed at the hospital for the night before being moved to Delhi early morning on Monday, where he's now recovering.

"He will now be moved to a multi-speciality hospital in Chennai," the source said. The filmmaker's OK Kamnani recently released in theatres to much critical acclaim. He has had a history of heart-related complications.

Tabu hospitalised in Kashmir

Anil Raina (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 22, 2014)

Yesterday, Tabu was rushed to Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. She was shooting for Haider in Srinagar’s Nishad area. Mirror has learnt that the actress couldn’t bear the severe cold and decided to warm herself near a bonfire outside the heritage bungalow where they were shooting. The smoke made her breathless and she was rushed to the hospital 13 kilometres away, by the local unit co-ordinator. After four hours, she was discharged but shooting was cancelled for the day.
