The role of Alia Bhatt’s father in Imtiaz Ali’s next film Shaandaar was first offered to Karan Johar, then Govinda, and later, even Sajid Khan. After all three declined, Pankaj Kapur has stepped in. This is the first time he will be sharing the screen with son Shahid Kapoor, who is paired with Alia. Not only that, the role of Alia’s sister is being played by Shahid’s real sister!

Says Shahid, “My sister plays Alia’s sister in the film while dad plays her father. So, Alia has left me without my family. She has taken all of them in this film. But seriously, I have been really impressed with the kind of films Alia is doing. I feel she is amazingly talented.”
