QARIB QARIB SINGLLE grossed 12.25 crore nett in its first week which is a low collection. Actually it would not be that bad if the film did very well on weekdays which would give it a chance of a 30-40% drop in the second week but that is not the case here. The competition from TUMHARI SULU and JUSTICE LEAGUE will probably be enough for the film to struggle in the second week. Another Irrfan Khan film MADAARI released last year had grossed 13.41 crore nett and its first week and finished with 17.79 crore nett and that is probably a best case scenario for this film.

SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA was even worse than QARIB QARIB SINGLLE though it trended better on the weekdays by recording better collections on Monday than Friday. The problem is the first week is just 6.50 crore nett apprx which makes the weekdays hold of little meaning as collections are far too low. It has fared better than QARIB QARIB SINGLLE is places like UP and Bihar but its Mumbai collections are just about 30-35% of QARIB QARIB SINGLLE. It remains to be seen if it can outperform QARIB QARIB SINGLLE in week two.

The horror film THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR grossed a very poor 1.25 crore nett in its first week and will not be going anywhere with such low first week collections.

QARIB QARIB SINGLLE grossed another 1 crore nett on Tuesday and is looking at a 12 crore nett first week. The collections are low but the film still has chances and will need a very limited drop on Friday to have a chance to get near that 20 crore nett mark which would be a decent result for the film. The horror film THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR was best of the lot of insignificant releases with weekend business of around 80-90 lakhs nett.

QARIB QARIB SINGLLE grossed  1.65-1.75 crore nett apprx on day one which is a low collection but keeps the film in with a chance if it can show big growth on Saturday and Sunday. The collections are lower than recent Irrfan Khan films like Hindi Medium and Talwar which collected 2.50 crore nett while Madaari collected nearly 2 crore nett. The film has its best collections in Delhi NCR followed by Mumbai and Pune. Its another film which will only have chances in five cities and if these work it will be enough due to low costs but the question is can it even work in these five metros.

SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA is a poor fare as it collected around 60-65 lakhs nett which makes it near impossible for the film. Basically it has to at least double up on Saturday to have just have a chance on the weekdays. The film is also best in Delhi NCR but whereas QARIB QARIB SINGLLE has some audience in a Mumbai and Pune here it is very minimal. Newton which had the same actor showed Saturday growth which was around 200% and that will do the job for this film as well but that came because of a well timed Oscar nomination and here there is no such thing.

The other releases this week MAHERUH, SAFE and THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR could not register at the box office at all.

QARIB QARIB SINGLLE showed big growth on Saturday as collections were up 90% and this is a pretty good result for Saturday and puts the film in with a chance to sustain on the weekdays. The film picked up very well in both Mumbai and Delhi/NCR. The figures remain low as collections are yet to hit even 5 crore nett but there is a trend for the film. This gives SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA some sort of respectable number on Saturday but really it had to this Saturday number on day one and then grow like this. The note of caution for both films is that all films playing doubled up or went close on Saturday including likes of Ittefaq and Secret Superstar so it is possible its just a Saturday thing but Monday will tell.
