Sardaarji 2 had an excellent first grossing around 10.75 crore nett in East Punjab and 3 crore nett apprx in the rest of India for a first week total of 13.75 crore nett. The film is the first blockbuster of Punjabi cinema in 2016. The other successful films have been AMBARSARIYA (Super Hit), LOVE PUNJAB (Hit) and ARDAAS (Hit).

The collections are slightly lower than SARDAARJI (2015) as the weekdays held up very well but not as strong as that film. It is the second highest first week collection ever in Punjabi cinema and the second Punjabi film to go over 10 crore nett in East Punjab in week one. This is a feat achieved by only 8 Hindi films despite having wider releases and generally getting benefit of holidays.

The drop in the weekdays and SULTAN releasing in five days will mean it will not outnumber the collection of CHAAR SAHIBZAADE OR SARDAARJI. But it still can aim for an 18-19 crore nett all India lifetime total to be the third highest grosser ever.

SARDAARJI 2 held up well on Monday as it grossed around 1.75 crore nett apprx across India and 1.30 crore nett plus in East Punjab. The all India business of the film is around 10.50 crore nett plus. The daily four day business of SARDAARJI 2 in East Punjab is as follows

Sunday - 2,49,00,000
Monday - 1,33,00,000
Total - 8,00,00,000

The drop on Monday was only around 35% from Friday which is very good but it could have been even better. The first week will be around 12 crore nett in East Punjab and 15 crore nett across India and then will have a shortened second week due to release of SULTAN on Wednesday.

SARDAARJI 2 was outstanding on Sunday as it grossed around 3.25-3.35 crore nett to take its first weekend total to a huge 8.75-8.85 crore nett. These figures are a record edging past the 8.50 crore nett of SARDAARJI released last year. The film could have added a little more in East Punjab if it had the same amount of screenings as SARDAARJI.

Despite fewer screenings in East Punjab, SARDAARJI 2 still created a record in East Punjab by collecting 6.68 crore nett compared to the 6.60 crore nett of SARDAARJI. The collections are a record for any film in East Punjab this year and despite the fact that big collecting areas like Gurgaon and Faridabad have a limited contribution to Punjabi films compared to Hindi or English films

The film is a huge hit and already the second highest grossing Punjabi film of the year but it will be the weekdays that will decide where the film will go. The film basically has ten more days to do the bulk of its business as SULTAN will hit collections.

SARDAARJI 2 smashed all box office records for Punjabi films beating the records of SARDAARJI released last year. The East Punjab circuit could probably have gone higher as last year SARDAARJI had weaker competition for screens. The gap it set record collections in other circuits was far higher than in Punjab. The all India collections will be around 2.75 crore nett mark. The top five opening days in East Punjab for Punjabi films are as follows.
1. Sardaarji 2 - 2.05 crore
2. Sardaarji - 2.02 crore
3. Ambarsariya - 1.58 crore
4. Jatt & Juliet 2 - 1.26 crore
5. Angrez - 1.06 crore

The occupancy was fantastic in East Punjab and Delhi city. It was the highest of the year and no Hindi or English film has recorded higher occupancy in East Punjab and Delhi city than SARDAARJI 2 be it UDTA PUNJAB, FAN, HOUSEFULL 3 or THE JUNGLE BOOK.

The top four initials are all Diljit Dosanjh starrers and the way things are going it could even be that the top five initials could belong to him which is unbelievable and has probably never happened in any industry.

Basically its a one man industry as far as male leads go. Another stastic to highlight this is that the two Diljit Dosanjh starrers AMBARSARIYA and SARDAARJI 2 combined have collected more than all the other 18 Punjabi films put together on the first day in East Punjab.
