The actor is hoping to be second-time-lucky with his new supermodel-match

The original Aashiqui star Rahul Roy is high on love and life. He is dating supermodel Sadhana Singh, whom he met at a fashion show in Indore and admits that it was love at first sight.

"It seemed like I have known her since many years. But we are taking it easy and I am treating the relationship with utmost respect. She is a remarkable girl with her head on her shoulder. I really feel blessed," Rahul told Mirror.

The happy-go-lucky-actor, who will next be seen in Jaideep Chopra's drama, 2016 The End and Pooja Bhatt's Cabaret, had separated from his wife Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar, whom he had tied the knot with in 2000, after a two-year-long courtship.

The two filed for divorce in 2014, but Rahul points out that it wasn't bitter at all. "There has been nothing ugly about it as we have parted ways on amicable terms. We have immense respect for each other, which will always remain. We spent 14 years together, and felt that it's better to part ways with dignity. It's sad when marriages don't work out but having no children made separating easier," Rahul says, revealing that he continues to be close to Rajlaxmi's family. "I don't hold grudges or bitterness about the past," he says, adding that he strongly believes in the institution of marriage and love with the same passion and intensity, even today.

Are marriage plans with Sadhana next on the cards? "We are still getting to know each other, so let's see where this goes. But one thing's for sure, this relationship is for keeps. I have never hidden any facts about me, and will shout out my wedding plans off rooftops when it happens. I love flying off to Hyderabad to catch up with her," he smiles.

It’s love
He admits as much but adds, “Give it time. I will talk about it when the time is right, nahi toh nazar lagta hai. I’ve never hidden anything in my life. However, I will say that there’s something very strong and good happening here, this relationship is here to stay. I have found love again. After my divorce, I never thought I would. It’s never easy getting over a broken relationship. You don’t go searching for love… But it happened. When I met Sadhana, I thought it was perfect.”

Love at first sight?
“I am not new at this, so I can’t really say. Apart from the fact that she’s a stunning woman, the reason why I love Sadhana is also because the kind of human being she is. At this stage in my life, I need something beyond good looks. She’s just perfect for me and everything that I am looking for. I don’t want to jinx it by talking too much about it. All I will say is that it’s deadly serious and I will hold onto her for dear life.”

Treading cautiously
He seems to have gotten over his divorce with Rajlaxmi. Rahul admits, “Thankfully, it was not an ugly one. That chapter is now closed. We have been legally divorced for over a year. I have been blessed to be surrounded by good family and friends who helped me get over it.” He adds. “My relationships have always been very serious. I will plan how to go ahead with this one, as I have always done in the past. When we are ready, I will announce in the proudest manner to the whole world!”

Back with the Bhatts
Rahul also is making a comeback to B-Town this year. Apart from the comedy caper thriller, 2016 The End, directed and produced by Jaideep Chopra (directed and produced Maazii), where Rahul plays a don in a pivotal role, he is also back in the Bhatt camp. His next three films are under the banner which includes one with Mahesh Bhatt and another with his daughter Pooja. “I would like them to make the announcements, so I can’t give too many details.”
