Rajpal Yadav sent to jail for three months

Actor Rajpal Yadav was sentenced to three-month civil prison in a loan default case. Yadav was immediately taken into custody by the Delhi Police after the Delhi High Court order was pronounced on Friday.
Though counsel for Yadav, Advocate Surat Singh sought more time and expressed willingness to submit the papers of an immovable property as assurance, the Court did not provide him relief. Advocate S K Sharma, the counsel for petitioner M G Aggarwal said that there were several occasions where Yadav had dodged the decree for a very long time.
To this, the court observed: “I am satisfied from the past conduct of Yadav that inspite of being in a position to pay the decretal amount of Rs 8 crore are managing their affairs so as to avoid execution of the decree.”
Rajpal and his wife Radha had taken the loan in 2010 from Aggarwal to make the actor’s directorial debut with Hindi film Ata Pata Laapata. They have been in a legal battle after the Delhi-based businessman filed a case against the couple in the High Court for failing to repay the loan of Rs 5 crore.

Last December, Rajpal Yadav
was arrested and sent to judicial custody by the Delhi High
Court for hiding facts about a Rs 5 crore recovery suit filed against
him and his wife by a Delhi-based entrepreneur. In 2010, the actor had
taken loan from M G Aggarwal for his directional debut, Ata Pata Laapata. The judge also issued a notice to his two lawyers for submitting
affidavits with forged signatures of the actor and wife Radha.
Rajpal has put this unsavoury chapter behind him by adding an extra 'a'
to his name for good luck. It seems to be working as his much delayed
Hollywood project is set to release. “Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain is a
film seen through my eyes. I play a labourer,“ he informs.
Touch on his imprisonment in Tihar jail, and he says lightly, “Jo ho gaya so ho gaya. Some of the inmates were happy to meet me. I told them not to wish for another meeting so much that I'd have to come back.“
He admits that he has still to pay off the Rs 5 crore loan to Aggarwal. “I'm doing it, bit by bit, and soon he will get his money back,“ he promises, adding that he was not put behind bars for non-repayment of loan but because his lawyers submitted an affidavit with forged signatures. “After I was set free, I sacked those lawyers and appointed new ones,“ he explained.
We saw him in every alternative film eight years ago. Now he's hardly seen on screen. Why? “Hindi cinema has changed in the last decade,“ sighs the actor. “But I'm reading lots of scripts and have signed a few films. Meanwhile, I have been busy with regional cinema. I've done movies in at least 10 languages in the last year-and-a-half. Thanks to these films and Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, I haven't sat at home for a single day in 2014.“
Needless to say that having burnt his hands with Ata Pata Laapata, Rajpal is in no mood to produce films again in the near future, but quickly adds, “The film was a learning experience but like Sean Connery as James Bond said, 'I never say never again'.“

Rajpal Yadav has been arrested in connection with a forgery case and the actor is expected to spend 10 days in prison. Not only him, even his wife has been accused of concealing facts about a Rs 5 crore recovery suit filed against them by a Delhi-based entrepreneur.
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court remanded him to 10-day police custody. According to a source present at the event, “Justice S Murlidhar asked Yadav’s wife to remain present in the Registrar General’s office till the rising of the court.” The judge later also issued a contempt of court notice against two lawyers representing the couple.
At the time of going to print, Rajpal had requested bail but the court denied him.

December 3, Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was remanded to 10 days
judicial custody by the Delhi High Court, for concealing facts about a
recovery suit filed against him and his wife Radha by a Delhibased
entrepreneur, MG Agarwal. The court earlier noted that the couple had
repeatedly breached the undertakings given by them to repay the 5 crore
loan amount, which the actor had taken in 2010 for Ata Pata Laapata,
Rajpal’s directorial debut.Taking strong exception to the absence of Yadav and his wife in court regarding the suit, the Delhi High Court had, on Monday, set a deadline of December 3 for appearing before the court, with Justice Murlidhar warning the couple that they’ll be issued non-bailable warrants for their repeated failure to appear before him. On Monday, Rajpal turned up, but his wife Radha failed to appear. On Tuesday, during the hearing, Justice Murlidhar asked Radha to remain present in the Registrar General’s office till the rising of the court. The judge also issued a contempt of court notice against the two lawyers representing the couple, besides stating that Rajpal be taken into custody. A source close to the film revealed that the promotional efforts for Ata Pata Laapata too weren’t going ahead as planned earlier in the year, “They wanted to make movie merchandise; umbrellas with the film’s branding, pan shops and an elaborate cut out of the 'Ghodi' that Rajpal used in the film’s posters, but due to lack of funds they weren't done.” While Rajpal initially agreed, he couldn't make the funds available.
