Relationship with Percy has infused confidence in me that was missing before-Delnaaz Irani

S Farah Rizvi (HINDUSTAN TIMES; August 30, 2022)
Actor Delnaaz Irani parted ways with her ex-husband, actor Rajev Paul, 10 years ago. But ever since she’s found love in her fiancĂ©, DJ Percy Karkaria, she feels she can talk about her past more comfortably. “It took me 12 years to come to terms with life. Being in a better frame of mind today, I can talk about the turmoil I went through much easily. I am in a good space,” says the Choti Sarrdaarni actor.
The 49-year-old, who wishes to marry DJ Percy soon, says their relationship has made her more confident. “It has infused confidence in me that was missing before. Percy has given me a new lease of life (smiles). Things can be so much in place if you are with the right person. Now, I am raring to go and give my best to my craft as well,” shares Irani.
She goes on to recall coming face to face with Paul when she did the celebrity reality show, Bigg Boss, in 2012. “I got to know that my ex-husband, too, was part of the show. I was totally clueless about how to react or what to do. I did the show only for money, so I had to stay a put. Today, if such a situation comes up again, you will surely see a stronger and more confident Delnaaz,” says Irani, who wishes to explore different kinds of characters and hopes that people look beyond her character, Sweetu, from Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003).
“Of late, I have done projects where my roles go way beyond that role. A lot of them are slated for release this year,” she ends.
After Zaira Wasim, Sana Khaan finds a path out of showbiz

Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 10, 2020)
On Friday, Sana Khaan took to social media to announce that she’s quitting showbiz “to serve humanity and follow the orders of my Creator”. She informed that she did not wish to be contacted for any work related to the entertainment industry. Zaira Wasim had taken a similar decision last year, and, as with her, Sana’s decision comes as a surprise to friends and colleagues.
The actress, who had been a part of the industry since 2005, had featured in films like Jai Ho and Wajah Tum Ho, along with several South films. She’d become very popular after the sixth season of Bigg Boss in 2012, emerging as the second runner up. Rajev Paul, who continued to be friends with her even after the reality show ended, admitted that, like Mirror, he’d been trying to reach her since he’d found out. “I’ve spoken to her mother; her family is standing behind her. Sana’s a sensible girl so it couldn’t have been an overnight decision. I hope she is happy,” asserted the actor, who had spoken to her last just before the Coronavirus lockdown.
Sana, in her statement, said that she’d been pondering existential issues like whether our purpose of coming into the world was to chase wealth and fame, and what happens after we die. She’d come to the realisation that this life is for betterment of life after death through social service. Actress-friend Ridhi Dogra who commended her on the ’gram, saying, “Be blessed today and every day,” also hadn’t spoken to or met Sana in a long time and was as surprised as the rest.
However, Vikram Bhatt, who acted alongside her in a series, Zindabaad, recalled her as someone who’d religiously offer namaaz five times a day. “She was doing charity work for some social institute so this sense of giving back is not new to her,” he reasoned, advising Sana to “never say never”.
Vishal Pandya, who directed her in Wajah Tum Ho, admits that they were in touch, off and on, even after the film, yet they had never discussed the subject of her quitting films. “It’s too personal, no one talks about such things till they are ready. She was always dedicated to her faith,” he shared.
Karan Tacker, who worked opposite her in a recent series, Special Ops, also remembered engaging in a long chat with her on Islamic culture and religion in general while driving to Petra in Jordan. “But she never hinted at the idea of quitting,” he shared.
Actor-choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan, who met Sana during Khatron Ke Khiladi and choreographed some of her Bigg Boss act, shared that she is very close to his wife and stated that the lockdown had given many a new, more humanitarian perspective which came with the realisation that materialistic things are useless. “Doing the right thing in the Islamic way is empowerment,” he maintained, adding that he was also wondering how to give back to society during these difficult times. “The satisfaction it brings is unmatched by any trophy. I fully support her decision and have sent her a message wishing her luck in this new phase.”
Sana was in the news earlier this year following her controversial break up with choreographer Melvin Louis. She had accused him of cheating on her and even shared screenshots of other girls telling her about a similar experience with him. However, now the former actress has deleted all her old Insta posts, including every one of her glamorous photographs and embraced the veil.
Mirror tried to get in touch with Sana but she chose not to answer our calls or text messages.
Delnaaz Irani is superstitious about getting married again

Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (BOMBAY TIMES; January 16, 2016)
Her split with Rajev Paul
after 14 years of marriage might not have made Delnaaz Irani a bitter
person, but it has surely made her wary of tying the knot again. The
actress, who's in a relationship with Percy Karkaria, says, “He is
definitely looking at marriage and lots of babies. But I am
superstitious. I believe that maybe, I am unlucky on that front. I fear
that if I put a stamp to the relationship, it will end. Once I am over
this fear, we would probably be in a better position.“
Clearly cherishing the love in her life, she continues, “I don't want to lose Percy and this relationship. I am blessed to have him in my life. I am in this dreamland and don't want the bubble to burst. In the end, marriage is just a piece of paper. We are living-in together and are like a married couple. I feel that if you are happy in a situation, leave it at that.“
What impressed Delnaaz about Percy was the fact that he was never enamoured by her celebrity status. She says, “I couldn't believe that there could be a man who does not judge me. He was totally unfazed by my celebrity status. He loves the real me. He knew what I was going through in life during the separation and stood by me like a rock. There is no space for ego in our relationship. God has made one namoona for me, and he is my anchor in the truest sense.“
Last seen on Power Couple, they believe that the reality show helped them rediscover each other. “It has been a fantastic journey and we got to know each other better with every passing day,“ says Delnaaz.

It was inside Bigg Boss house that I realized my love for Percy-Delnaaz Irani

Call it an uncanny coincidence, but art seems to have imitated Delnaaz’s life to a great extent. Her divorce proceedings — she was married to actor Rajev Paul, who recently got engaged to his girlfriend Kavita Sarin — began while shooting for Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, a show about an estranged couple. Later, during Jee Le Zara — an older woman-younger man romance — she was in love with Percy, who is 10 years younger.
“Age is just a number,” she says, adding, “I see a reflection of my father in him. He is a part-time priest, DJ and dancer. Extremely caring and compassionate, he is a simple guy with strong values. I was shattered when I separated from my husband in 2010 and lost my father the following year. Percy is a family friend and we reconnected in 2012, a few months before I entered Bigg Boss. It was inside the house that I realised my love for him. I missed him.”
Though in love, Delnaaz is in no hurry to get married. “I am not thinking of marriage yet. Our families have met and they are happy,” she says.
Is Rajev aware of the relationship? “He recently called me to ask about Percy and I couldn’t lie to him. He is very happy for me; there is no bitterness between us,” she explains.
On the professional front, Delnaaz is part of historical comedy Akbar Birbal, in which she plays Akbar’s (Kiku Sharda) wife. “I play Rani Bai. It takes me three hours to get ready for the part,” the actress concludes.
Rajev Paul to get engaged to girlfriend Kavita Sarin on April 5

Roshni Olivera (BOMBAY TIMES; April 1, 2014)
Actors Delnaaz and Rajev Paul’s separation made headlines four years ago. They were again in the news in 2012 when the two entered the Bigg Boss house, where Rajev was trying to woo her all over again. They, however, never got back together. But now there’s news on Rajev’s front — he will get engaged to his girlfriend Kavita Sarin, who he met a year ago, on April 5. Excerpts from a conversation with the actor:
So you’ve found love again. When did it all happen?
Yes I have (smiles). As they say, love happens when you least expect it. I have now known Kavita for a year. We met socially and after that, we bumped into each other a few times and became friends and then, better friends. Honestly, we didn’t even realise when we fell in love. She’s a corporate girl, far from our industry.
Isn’t it too short a time to decide on marriage?
We are now formalising our love. For me, love always meant marriage and commitment. We are getting engaged on April 5. It’s a very small ceremony with family and few of our closest friends.
Apparently, Delnaaz Irani too has moved on in life...
Delnaaz had said in Bigg Boss in 2012 that she had moved on then itself. I had messaged her and wished them good luck. Delnaaz will always be in my prayers and I will always wish the best for her.
Have you informed her about your marriage plans?
I have no reason to hide Kavita. Yes, Delnaaz knows about her.
Are there things you feel you’ve learnt from your past marriage experience that will help you this time around?
I was completely broken after my marriage fell apart. It has taken me a long time to get back to life and I took a long time to get into a relationship. It’s taken me long to be able to love and believe in love. I would not want to discuss my earlier marriage now as anything I may say will sound like a blame game. At times, destiny has other plans and two good people sometimes can’t be good life partners. But all I can say is that God be with us, and grant Delnaaz and me happiness this time around. And I’m sure Kavita is going to keep me really happy. I hope I am also her reason to smile.
