RACE 3 had good collections in the first week of close to 139 crore nett but the problem is going forward as the collections did drop on the weekdays. Normally the big event films clear HIT status in the first week itself but here the film is 40-45 crore nett short of that status and may find it difficult to earn that much after the first week.

Still the film also not a huge flop or something either. The content was poor but the collections are far better than the content as Eid has helped keeping the film afloat in the first week. It is pretty clear that these sorts which depend on twists and turns are never really going to get the numbers that are expected of superstars. This could easily have been an action revenge drama but its the RACE franchise so goes into the thriller side which makes the plot childish. This is okay for the first two RACE films as expectations are not of a blockbuster film.

The film has performed best in UP and Bihar where first week NETT collections in many centres could come out to be best ever outside BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION. The collections of RACE 3 for the first week days are as follows

RACE 3 had a fair collections on Wednesday of 8 crore nett but it is still on the downward trend though the drop on Wednesday was much less than Tuesday. The total of the film is now 132.50 crore nett and the first week is looking to finish in the 138-140 crore nett range.

The film will be back to normal today as Eid affect will be over so the film will be doing normal ratios. Even on Wednesday the film was boosted by around 75 lakhs nett looking at the circuits figures. UP and Bihar were higher than they should be. The film is going to have a good first week collection but the follow through is going to be tough looking at collections in Delhi and Punjab which are not boosted by much post Eid.

RACE 3 had a major drop of around 30-35% as the Eid holidays slowly come to an end. The film collected 9.50 crore nett apprx on Tuesday and the drop is a little more than it should be on this day as normally its 25-30% down. The collections looked to be coming in lower than 9 crore yesterday but UP and Bihar are still seeing a little leftover from the holiday period and they have boosted the collections again.

The single screens always record high numbers in this period but even the high end multiplexes in UP and Bihar are recording big numbers. The holiday leftover will slowly go down and collections will be at normal levels by end of week. The five day total is 124 crore nett plus which is good but the same cant be said for the trend.

RACE 3 had a fair Monday with collections at around 14 crore nett after a huge weekend of 101 crore nett. But it was a mixed bag as circuits dominated by a Muslim audience held up very strongly while others dropped 60%. Looking at the numbers the film is looking on course to emerge a HIT but looking at the trend of key centres with a limited Muslim audience, it suggests the drops will come as the Eid factor subsides.

The four day total is a huge 115 crore nett but its difficult to say where the week will end up just yet as the it will not be the normal weekday trend for the film.

The best hold came in UP, Bihar, Nizam and Gujarat as both multiplexes and single screens held up very well but it is because of the Eid factor which lingers on for a few days after Eid.

The film needs to do a share of around 95 crore to emerge a HIT and at the moment it is on course to do that but as mentioned above there could be drops in circuits holding up so well over the next few days.

RACE 3 had a huge weekend of 101 crore nett apprx over the first three days as the Eid holidays on Saturday and Sunday pushed the collections. The film managed to get gains on Sunday in areas where pre Eid affected collections but Delhi city and East Punjab saw drops of around 5%.

The film has got through on the weekend and the film economically is safe but eventually its about where you can go theatrically and the next few days will tell has the film just pulled through on the Salman Khan star factor and the Eid crowd or does it have legs to stay in the theaters for 3-4 weeks.

The film has scored all over barring Tamil Nadu/Kerala but looking at the trend in key centres, if the film is to sustain, it will be driven by mass circuits like UP, Rajasthan, Bihar and CI. Although the collections look great all over but if put in the holiday factor then some places should have trended better.

The film has collected 33 crore nett apprx in Mumbai and 21 crore nett apprx in Delhi/UP and East Punjab was around 9 crore nett. Nizam/Andhra scored very well despite a pre Eid release with collections of over 6 crore nett.

RACE 3 had an excellent second day of 36 crore nett plus which took its two day total close to 64 crore nett. The second day number is huge but there was potential to be better as SULTAN grossed 37.25 crore nett apprx on the same day when taxes and ticket prices were lower. RACE 3 is one crore less than SULTAN.

There were huge jumps in business in places like UP and Gujarat especially the single screens which at places were 75-80% up. The numbers of the of the film are huge but the test for the film is to come on the weekdays. The upturn in business was around 30% on day two.

The performance of the film is not as good as SULTAN or BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN if we look at the past Salman Khan Eid films. TUBELIGHT is not compared as that was a dull affair for a Eid release. If we go back to KICK which was 2014 then it is better than that but that film had all its first three days pre Eid.

The film should be able to have another huge day today as the single screen business will hardly drop but multiplexes could feel the pressure. The Overseas business is a huge bonus for the film as Eid has fell correctly for that market and its on course for a huge weekend outside India.
