RAAZI has done excellent business in week one grossing 55.75-56 crore nett which is fifth highest first week collection of 2018 and more than 10 crore nett higher than the other runaway HIT of 2018 SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY. RAAZI is also a slightly less costly affair than that film and could surpass it's lifetime numbers as well.

The biggest plus for RAAZI was the start it took as normally a film like this will start lower and the growth will come over the weekend but its a big difference when the growth comes from 7 plus rather than a lower number. The weekdays have held superbly as they added almost 70% to the weekend total as even day seven remained above 5 crore nett. The norm is that weekdays add around 50%.

Raazi is a SUPER HIT which will be confirmed by the collections on day eight and it will go on to be the second highest female driven film in terms of its total collections behind TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS.

The other plus for the film is the Overseas business which is around $2.9m and this has come despite a Pakistan ban which would have give the signal in other markets which have a huge expat Pakistani audience that it is anti Pak. But despite this, the UK market has gone to £225k plus and Gulf to around $750k which are strong numbers for markets which have a big expat Pakistani audience. The figures are the fourth highest in week one for Overseas this year after PADMAAVAT, BAAGHI 2 and PAD MAN.

RAAZI remained rock steady on Tuesday with collections hardly down from the day before. It collected 5.75 crore nett and takes its total to 44.50 crore nett. This is just a little short of the first WEEK total of the other runaway hit of the year SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY. RAAZI also has costs which are a little lower than that film.

The first week is looking at a 54-55 crore nett total and then its about that crucial second Friday which will tell where the film can go. If the film holds firmly, it will be setting itself up for a 100 crore nett as there will be 4 weeks till RACE 3 and it will get healthy number of screenings till then.

RAAZI is sure to become the highest grossing female lead driven film outside TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS but that film was also a franchise driven film though being female orientated.

RAAZI had a super strong hold on Monday as it collected 6 crore nett apprx which is around 20% down. The total is now close to 39 crore nett which is more than what a similar budget film like 102 Not Out has done in 11 days.

Normally these films just find acceptance in five cities but RAAZI has gone a bit further as places like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Indore, Surat, Nagpur etc come on board as well as the likes of Mumbai, Delhi etc. Its not done well the smaller centres like Jhansi, Akola, Sikar, Mehsana etc but that is huge task to find acceptance all India with this type of film. Just managing to go outside the five metros and into A centres itself is big enough for RAAZI.

The week will finish at around 54 crore nett and the second Friday will tell where the film is going and it could be anywhere as there is not much competition over the next few weeks till RACE 3.

RAAZI has had a very good weekend of 32 crore nett plus with strong collections on Saturday and Sunday and that was from an opening which was pretty good for this type of film. The test is Monday and it should hold but question is how well can it hold.

The weekend is the fifth biggest of 2018 after PADMAAVAT, BAAGHI 2, PAD MAN and RAID and in terms of female lead films it is probably one of the biggest weekends ever as it is rare to see double digit numbers on any day for female lead films.

If the film holds on Monday are as per the trend of the weekend then it will do more in one week than the lifetime of similar budget films like 102 NOT OUT and OCTOBER. The film also as has a plus that there is no big Hindi releases till RACE 3 in mid June and the main competition in the next month or so will come from Hollywood.

RAAZI scored very well across multiplexes in India as it grossed 11.25 crore nett which was growth of 50% from Friday. The film should join the HIT list of 2018 making it six hit films in the first five months. The film will need just a normal Monday hold to be a Hit.

The growth on day two is excellent in the bigger circuits which have also recorded very good numbers. Mumbai was 4.10 crore nett on Saturday, Delhi/UP was 2.60 crore nett and East Punjab was 1.25 crore nett. Mysore almost doubled up going to 1,05 crore nett from 60 lakhs nett. The collections in other places are decent.

The film does have chances of another good uplift on Sunday as business is just not limited to urban centres and it has potential for the family audiences.

If we take out TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS which is a franchise film then RAAZI will be the highest opening weekend ever for a female lead film.
