CHAL MERA PUTT 3 has done well in its first with collections of 7.25 crore nett plus but the film has not trended too well. The film is a HIT and even the first week collections are better than CHAL MERA PUTT 2 which was around 6.75 crore nett (this is the first week post the pandemic) but long term performance will be short of CHAL MERA PUTT 2.
The picture is pretty much similar Overseas where CHAL MERA PUTT 2 smashed all records while CHAL MERA PUTT 3 will finish well short. Overall the film is winner due to the initial collections but is not taking the franchise up another level. Basically CHAL MERA PUTT is the GOLMAAL of Punjab and CHAL MERA PUTT 3 can be equated to GOLMAAL RETURNS which was a HIT but the weakest product of the franchise.
The collections of CHAL MERA PUTT 3 till date are as follows.
Friday - 1,32,00,000
Saturday - 1,68,00,000
Sunday - 1,63,00,000
Monday - 86,00,000
Tuesday - 72,00,000
Wednesday - 60,00,000
Thursday - 52,00,000
TOTAL - 7,33,00,000
QISMAT 2 is excellent in week two with business of over 4.25 crore nett taking its two week total to 15 crore nett. The drop is 60% but it was an eight day first week whereas if we take seven days, the drop is just 52%. The film is heading to be the highest Punjabi grosser in India post the pandemic beating the numbers of CHAL MERA PUTT 2.
The collections of this film are simply outstanding in Delhi/UP with collections nearing the 4 crore nett mark. This is where its far ahead of CHAL MERA PUTT 2 while the East Punjab collections compared to CHAL MERA PUTT 2 will be a little lower.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Week One - 10,63,00,000
Week Two - 4,35,00,000
TOTAL - 14,98,00,000

QISMAT 2 is on course to be the highest grossing Punjabi film in India post the pandemic as it totals 13.50 crore nett after its second weekend. The film collected almost 3 crore nett in its second weekend and is sensational in Delhi city.
The collections in Delhi city on Saturday and Sunday were around 40-45% of the East Punjab figure which is simply phenomenal. These sort of ratios have never been seen before with a Punjabi film. It is helping that there are no major Hindi releases so QISMAT 2 can get more screenings in the key multiplexes of the capital. But as always, the content has to work also and QISMAT 2 has been appreciated in Delhi city in a big way.
The film will cross the business of CHAL MERA PUTT 2 which is the biggest grosser in India post the pandemic though the figures of East Punjab are unlikely to cross that film as that film also had a near 3 crore total coming before the pandemic.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Week One - 10,63,00,000
Friday - 63,00,000
Saturday - 1,09,00,000
Sunday - 1,10,00,000
Second Weekend - 2,82,00,000
TOTAL - 13,45,00,000

CHAL MERA PUTT 3 set a post pandemic record for Punjabi films as it collected 1.30-1.35 crore nett across India with East Punjab hitting the 1.15 crore nett mark. It beat the previous record numbers of QISMAT 2 by more than 20%. These numbers came with no advance, no promotion and a trailer which was just released four days before release.
The collections could have been better in the bigger centres especially Chandigarh but the smaller centres were extraordinary and these would have went far higher if there was no 50% cap rule.
The top opening day collections in East Punjab post the pandemic are as follows.
1. Chal Mera Putt 3 - 1,15,00,000
2. Qismat 2 - 93,00,000
3. Chal Mera Putt 2 - 90,00,000
4. Bell Bottom - 46,00,000
5. Puaada - 39,00,0000
QISMAT 2 is a BLOCKBUSTER film as it holds rock steady collections on its second Friday. The film has now crossed the 11 crore nett and is heading to be the highest grossing Punjabi film in India post the pandemic. The film is doing record business (for a Punjabi film) in Delhi city and the second week numbers in Delhi city will be more than BELLBOTTOM despite a much smaller release. The collections in the PVR chain were just 20% less than the new release CHAL MERA PUTT 3 due to Delhi city where PVR has a huge presence.

The Telugu film LOVE STORY is set to become the highest grosser post the second lockdown as it has grossed around 30 crore nett in six days and should cross the numbers of BELLBOTTOM in the first week. The film has seen dropping collections after a near 23.50 crore nett weekend. The film will not collect much more than 1 crore nett on Thursday but overall the film has done well due to initial collections.
QISMAT 2 is rock steady with collections set to cross 10 crore nett in its extended eight day weekend. The film had a little drop on Wednesday mainly as collections in Punjab came down 15%. The collections in Punjab did not drop on Tuesday as Monday had been affected by a bandh.
Delhi city is fantastic for the film with the collections on Wednesday being 5-10% lower than the opening day. This is a good sign for Hindi films set to release from Diwali onward for business in Delhi city.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Thursday - 1,24,00,000
Friday - 1,30,00,000
Saturday - 1,75,00,000
Sunday - 2,35,00,000
Monday - 1,10,00,000
Tuesday - 1,05,00,000
Wednesday - 90,00,000

QISMAT 2 had a superb hold on Monday as it dropped just a little over 10% from day one and collected over 1 crore nett. Monday is also the fifth day of the film. The total collections of the film are now 7.75 crore nett and it is heading for a 10 crore nett first week total.
These collections came despite their being a bandh in Punjab due to the farmer protests. As a result, the collections were slow till 3 pm at most places but then rocketed post 3 pm and the final collections in Punjab were eventually just 20% down from day one. The collections of the film are outstanding in Delhi city as they were better on Monday than day one.
On Monday QISMAT 2 had similar collections to what BELLBOTTOM had on Monday and this despite Punjabi films have a limited market compared to Hindi films in Delhi city. A big Punjabi film will be 8-10% of a big Hindi film in Delhi city. This shows the improving condition as far as cinema goes in the capital and it will get only get better in time with more releases. Its good news for Hindi releases as a hefty contribution from the capial is pretty much certain.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Thursday - 1,24,00,000
Friday - 1,30,00,000
Saturday - 1,75,00,000
Sunday - 2,35,00,000
Monday - 1,10,00,000
TOTAL - 7,74,00,000

QISMAT 2 had an excellent four day weekend of almost 6.75 crore nett and set new daily post pandemic highs for Punjabi films on Saturday and Sunday. The film collected almost 4 crore nett in East Punjab over the for days with Sunday hitting the 1.75 crore nett mark which is a phenomenal number considering the situation.
Obviously there will be some smaller centres which will be playing to 100% occupancy but generally Punjab is dominated by bigger multiplexes and these are adhering to the 50% rule. In a normal situation QISMAT 2 would have crossed 2 crore nett in Esat Punjab on Sunday. It is the first circuit to come back to normal thanks to 3 Punjabi films (PUAADA, CHAL MERA PUTT 2 and QISMAT 2).
The wait is now for the 50% cap rule to go and collections then may well surpass what was expected in 2019. QISMAT 2 is a HIT film and will hold well on Monday but faces stiff competition next week with two Punjabi films set to release and Hollywood release NO TIME TO DIE though the latter will not collect much in cities of Punjab. If it has to have decent collections in East Punjab, it will depend on the Gurgaon number. The problem for QISMAT 2 will be three new releases will considerably reduce its screen time.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Thursday - 1,24,00,000
Friday - 1,30,00,000
Saturday - 1,75,00,000
Sunday - 2,35,00,000

QISMAT 2 did outstanding business on Saturday as it collected 1.75 crore nett which is the highest collection for a single day for a Punjabi film post the pandemic. It beat the Sunday numbers of CHAL MERA PUTT 2. Though Punjab was less, it collected far more in Delhi city. There is Sunday to come which will be even higher than Saturday and the target is to cross the 1.50 crore nett barrier in Punjab for the fist time since March 2020.
The total business of the film is 4.25 crore nett and the four day weekend should be heading towards the 6.50 crore nett mark. The film has potential to add in Delhi city due to the strong release and the morning/afternoon shows in key multiplexes in Punjab. It will not add in the evening/night shows in the big collecting multiplexes of Punjab as these were mostly houseful on Saturday (on allowed capacity).
It can be said with full confidence that the the Punjab market is back now and its just about getting rid of the restrictions and collections will be pretty much what they were before the pandemic. Also hopefully no lockdowns and closures happen to stop the momentum.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Thursday - 1,24,00,000
Friday - 1,30,00,000
Saturday - 1,75,00,000
TOTAL - 4,29,00,000

QISMAT 2 had an excellent second day as collections went a little higher on Friday as some centres in Punjab managed growth as their performance was hit by rain on day one. But smaller centres did see drops on day two which is the norm.
Generally you would expected a little drop on day two with a Thursday release but this film has managed to go up. The film is super strong in Delhi as after a very good opening in the city, the collections here also went up a lakh or two. QISMAT 2 is among the best performers ever in recent history in Delhi city as far as initial business goes.
QISMAT 2 collected 1.30 crore nett on its day two taking its total to over 2.5 crore nett for two days. The collections in East Punjab were 96 lakhs nett while Delhi/UP hit 30 lakhs nett and other places contributed around 4 lakhs nett. This is with the occupancy cap which is hitting business in key properties in Punjab and Delhi as shows go full at peak time. If there was no occupancy cap this 1.30 crore nett collections would have easily been 1.50 crore nett plus which is the sort of business this film would have done in normal times.
The collections of QISMAT 2 till date are as follows.
Thursday - 1,24,00,000
Friday - 1,30,00,000
TOTAL - 2,54,00,000

QISMAT 2 has set a post pandemic record for Punjabi films as it collected 1.25 crore nett on day one with excellent business in Delhi city. The film beat the collections of CHAL MERA PUTT 2 which had collected 1.05 crore nett on day one although the East Punjab number is pretty similar for both films.
This is because of the heavy rain at many centres which include Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Moga and the film must have lost around 10 lakhs due to this factor. The East Punjab number was 95 lakh nett while Delhi/UP collected 26 lakhs nett which is excellent and not many Punjabi films have done this in normal times.
The collections in some of the main cinemas in Delhi city where Punjabi films do well were the highest seen post the pandemic, beating films like BELLBOTTOM and ROOHI. QISMAT 2 is looking at a strong weekend and looks like being the third Punjabi film which will do well post the pandemic.
The initial business for Punjabi films in India seems pretty close to pre pandemic levels. If we take the business of QISMAT 2 and account for the lost business in Punjab, it is maybe just 5-10% less than what it would have done in normal times. The Delhi city numbers are also a huge boost to the Hindi industry also as it shows that people here will come out for the right film.
The first day breakdown for the business of QISMAT 2 is as follows.
East Punjab - 95,00,000
Delhi/UP - 26,00,000
Rest Of India - 4,00,000
TOTAL - 1,25,00,000
