Priyanka Chopra has never made bones about the fact that she loves to sing, as much as she likes to act. While her album may not have worked, the actress is still trying to make a mark as a singer. She has sung the title track of her next release Dil Dhadakne Do and now if all goes as planned, PeeCee will be crooning for a song in her debut American TV show, Quantico.

The actress was in Los Angeles for nearly two months. While she was working on her show for the most part, she dedicated some of that time to her music album. It now looks likely that one of her songs will be used on the show. It is not clear if the song will first be aired on the show or be released and then be part of the show.

Our source reveals, “Priyanka, who has collaborated with some of the biggest names like Pitbull, will.i.am, and Bonnie Raitt, is currently working on her next single. She has been in talks with a few artistes while in LA. It was during one of the meetings with the TV crew that the subject of her singing for the show came up. The makers are keen that she lend her voice to the show in the background score or one of the soundtracks. It’s all in the nascent stage at the moment. It still has to be finalised whether it will be a fresh track specially composed for the show or if it will be one of her tracks from her music album.” More details will be available by end of May when the pilot episode of the show gets picked up.

After making it big in Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra has successfully established herself in the West as a recording artist. The Bajirao Mastani actress has so far released three singles — In my city, Exotic and I can’t make you love me — and all of them managed to garner a good response. Yes, PC sure has a long way too go as far as her career in singing is concerned but in a very short span the B-town beauty has carved her niche in the West. The actress-singer has been approached by many event management companies to capitalise on her songs and venture into a live concert.

However, Priyanka hasn’t managed to do so because of her tight schedule. We hear the desi girl was even approached to perform at an international live concert along with other global artists and was being offered a whopping Rs 20 crore for the same. But the Dil Dhadakne Do heroine is said to have rejected the proposal as she wanted to spend quality time with her family on their vacation before resuming shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.

Knowing how close PC is to her family, we aren’t quite surprised with her decision. But that sure must have been a tempting offer!

Until now, Priyanka Chopra was not allowed to sing in her films as she was bound by a contract with an international music label that produced her singles.

However, for Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do, the actress has lent her voice to one of the songs to go with the end credits. A source says, “Priyanka had recited some lines in Mary Kom which was a lullaby, not a proper song. In her upcoming film, she has sung a song that will be part of end credits. It is a fun composition and she really loved singing it. This is the first time that she has done playback singing for a Bollywood film.”

Before leaving for Los Angeles, the actress is said to have recorded the song in Mumbai. The music of the film has been composed by the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy triumvirate.

The source adds, “Priyanka did record a song at Bandra studio last week before she went abroad. It is a solo track and has come out very well. There are also plans to shoot an accompanying video featuring Priyanka and her co-stars.”

Incidentally, back in 2005, Priyanka had declined the offer to sing the song Tinka tinka for Karam as she wanted to concentrate on her acting career.

Shankar and Priyanka’s spokesperson were unavailable for comment.

Why Priyanka Chopra isn't singing in her films

Priyanka Chopra has just released her third single. The actress is basking in all the praise. Meanwhile, Bollywood isn’t acknowledging her singing.

While most actors from Amitabh Bachchan to Ayushmann Khurrana have lent their voices to their characters in films, PC has not been offered a song yet. So it is valid to question why no music composer has approached her to do the playback for one of her films, given that she is a trained singer?

Meanwhile, Priyanka seems to be in no hurry to sing for her films, and is enjoying acting in them. So what’s tougher — singing or acting? She smiles, “When I started out I thought acting was tougher, but now that I am into singing I think that is more. I think both together would be the toughest and once I do that if I sing for a Hindi film then that would be really tough!”
