The fourth instalment of the Housefull franchise kicked off in the Queen’s City last weekend with a song. Sajid Khan who had directed Part 1 and 2 before handing over the baton to Sajid-Farhad, has returned to the series and his sister, Farah Khan, choreographed the first song.

It was a full house with Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Riteish Deshmukh and Kriti Kharbanda grooving to Farah’s cues. But what gave the song its twist were doppelgangers of the royal family which included the Queen, Elizabeth II, her son Prince Charles and his better half, Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, along with grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry with their respective wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

The song was shot over four days for the Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios production and is a Sohail Sen composition. Speaking to Mirror from London, an excited Farah informed that they had got the royal doubles to shake a leg too, with the Prince Charles lookalike even crooning Hindi lyrics. “The Queen and Charles were my favourites from the original and Housefull 2. Sadly, they were missing in the third part so I decided to bring them back in a song,” she pointed out, applauding the artistes for making the effort to learn the Hindi chorus, along with the dance steps.

A source from the sets added that the team shot across London, including the House of Lords and Kensington Palace, besides some famous streets and buses which were blocked off for the day.

After a 25-day schedule in London, the Housefull 4 team will be heading to Rajasthan for the second schedule in August. Revolving around the theme of reincarnation, the film follows a non-linear narrative and all the flashback sequences will be shot in Rajasthan. A lavishly mounted set is being built in Mumbai for the finale. Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Nana Patekar are also a part of the House.

Anil Kapoor forgot he’d met Prince William before and had to be reminded?

Upala KBR (DNA; April 15, 2016)

Royals all over the world, especially the British monarchs are very proper. Because any slip-up on their part can turn into a scandal and end up on the front pages of newspapers worldwide, or result in an international incident, Actors, and lesser mortals, are not that concerned about making minor boo-boos.

Anil Kapoor was introduced to Prince Willam, the Duke of Cambridge, during his recent visit to Mumbai with wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. William told the Slumdog Millionaire actor that they’d met before. Kapoor gently told William that they hadn’t met and that if they had, he would have remembered. However, William insisted they’d met, trying to recall where they had. However, the actor suggested that the Prince had probably seen a film of his and was confusing that with meeting him, and assured him that they had never met or been formally introduced. He also said that perhaps he was confusing Anil with someone else. Suddenly William asked him, “Weren’t you at BAFTA?” Anil looked sheepish. He had indeed met William but had forgotten all about it.

A source from that dinner laughs, “It was really funny. Anil kept saying they hadn’t met and the Prince was so insistent. Then they had a good laugh.”

Anil laughs, “Yes, that happened. Prince William and Princess Kate are very gracious and wonderful people. And the prince has an amazing memory.”

A clutch of Bollywood stars are set for a date with British royals Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 10, but if sources are to be believed, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan will be giving the charity gala a miss.

Preparations for the special dinner at a Bandra five-star are in full swing and invitations to A-listers are said to have been sent out already. Shah Rukh Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are expected to be part of the glitzy night, but what will keep the couple from dining with royalty? Sources claim the actor is busy shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon and his Begum isn’t keen to attend the special event without him.

“Kareena and Saif regularly travel to London and share a special bond with the city. The authorities hosting the event are aware of it and so, wanted the couple to be a part of the event. But, they have declined the invitation,” informs a source. The British High Commission is reportedly hosting the special gala dinner and charity event in association with the British Asian Trust. The aim is to raise funds for three non- government charitable organisations.

“Kareena has confided in her friends that since Saif is shooting and won’t be able to make it to the royal reception, she also does not want to attend it. Despite being approached by the authorities repeatedly, she does not want to go alone,” adds the source.

However, the actress’ spokesperson says, “Kareena is shooting for an ad in Bangkok and so, can’t make it. Saif is shooting for Rangoon.”

Interestingly, when we contacted Saif, he told us he won’t be shooting that day.  But I have other commitments,” he said.

They fly to Delhi the next day to attend a birthday party for Her Majesty The Queen at the residence of the British High Commissioner for her 90th.
