Almost 34 years since their last offering Luv Kush, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia of Ramayan fame reunite to lead the upcoming movie, Notice
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; March 11, 2023)
Between 1987 and 1988, Sunday mornings across India were all about families gathering in front of the television to watch the latest episode of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. So popular was the on-screen pairing of Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia Topiwala as Lord Ram and Sita that the two followed it up with the show, Luv Kush that ran till 1989. Almost 34 years later, the actors have reunited for director Pradeep Gupta’s film, Notice. The project went on floors yesterday at Madh Island, where a large set of a village has been built.
Producer Aditya Pratap Singh Raghuvanshi views Notice as a modern-day interpretation of the Ramayana. Since Govil and Chikhlia’s public image has been dominated by the mythological offering, he felt they were the perfect choice to lead the movie.
“It is the story of a vulnerable man who fights for the truth, and his victory against the corrupt administration. Many stories evolve from the Ramayana and Mahabharat. Notice is a modern-day story [with roots in] the Ramayana. The film is so-titled as it depicts that whenever you get a notice, it brings some problem with it,” says Raghuvanshi.
The director will conduct a 12-day schedule in Mumbai with the leads. After a short break, the cast and crew will head to Sapana village in Madhya Pradesh for the next stint. The two actors’ popularity saw a resurgence of sorts when Ramayan had a re-run on Doordarshan during the pandemic.
Govil, who is looking forward to reuniting with Chikhlia, says, “It will be fantastic to work with her again. I am playing a common man fighting for justice. I signed the movie as there is dharma and truth in the character.”
Chikhlia, who returned to movies five years ago and was seen in Bala (2019), hopes to recreate the jodi’s on-screen magic with Notice that is slated to arrive in theatres later this year. She says, “Mine is a simple, homely and interesting character. The film is similar to Ramayan as that too was a simple story, and the audience is attracted to simplicity. During the pandemic, Arun ji and I shot for an ad together.”

BOMBAY TIMES (September 20, 2016)
With changing times in Bollywood, one thing has been constant -that content is the most important
aspect of a film to draw audiences to cinemas. The upcoming Fuddu
promises to be one such movie that is made with a heart. Featuring
newcomers, it talks about the hardships faced by a middle-class family
in the hustle and bustle of the city, albeit with a dose of laughter.
The realistic film expresses the daily nuisance of urban life.
Interestingly, the producers have got industry support for their film. While Sunny Leone and Sharman Joshi have made a special appearance in the song Tu Zaroorat Nahin, Ranbir Kapoor has lifted the sensuous number with his shayari.
With the song releasing today, producers of this comedy, Pradeep Gupta and Mahima Gupta, echo, “Sunny and Sharman have made a special appearance in this song, and their presence would surely give an impetus to reach out to more people. We are grateful to them for being a part of our labour of love.“
Co-producers Gandharv Sachdev and Pawan Kumar Sachdev add, “We have shown the undiscovered side of Sunny and Sharman, who have created a storm in this video and we are thankful to Ranbir for expressing his emotional side via some intense shayari. Nobody could have done it better than him.“
Fuddu, presented by Mahima Productions in association with Paradiso Productions and ViaMonk Motion Pictures, releases October 14.

Kaif’s team claims she didn’t back out
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; September 17, 2016)
The much-speculated reunion of ex-flames Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif for upcoming rom-com, Fuddu, has come to a naught. The two were supposed to recite shayaris for a romantic track in the film, but the actress has apparently pulled out of it. The film in question is the directorial debut of Sunil Subramani, who has assisted Anurag Basu. It was the filmmaker who convinced Ranbir to be part of his protégé’s project. Sunil and Ranbir, too, go back a long way.
A unit hand says, “The makers had approached them to recite a few couplets. Ranbir obliged, but Kat backed out. The producers tried their best to get her on board, but she wasn’t comfortable doing it. Their next film, Anurag’s Jagga Jasoos, is a commitment they are both deeply invested in, so they can’t back out from that. But, Fuddu was a favour for a friend and she decided not to keep her side of the promise.”
Katrina’s spokesperson, however, maintains, “She was supposed to do a voice-over for Fuddu, which she recorded long ago. She hasn’t backed out of it.”
The film’s producer, Pradeep Gupta, on the other hand, confirms that the actress ditched the offer: “It is sad that Katrina couldn’t be part of the project. But, in any case, I am sure her best wishes are with us. We are glad Ranbir could make time for our film.”
Interestingly, the film’s poster also credits Ranbir alone for the shayari; there is no mention of Katrina anymore.
After 2 Bollywood films, Daisy Shah to now make a debut in drama

There’s far better money in Bollywood than can ever be
in theatre, so after establishing their careers in the former, few
actors ever take to acting in the latter, more so, as it can be a
daunting experience.
Not Daisy Shah. The Jai Ho debutante last seen in Hate Story 3, now makes her debut in a play directed by award-winning director Pradeep Gupta.
Says a source, “Daisy has signed the contract and is currently doing readings with the director and cast. It’s a period play with the language in chaste Urdu. She is learning the diction from some of her close friends. She wants to speak it fluently as she knows that if she doesn’t, she will be ripped apart by critics. She has never acted in a play before and wants to be completely sure that she can deliver.”
Apart from that, there’s also a lot of classical dancing involved which the actress is learning now. The source adds, “Daisy’s character is the central lead and the play is named after her. While she’s a courtesan who entertains the public, she is not a tawaif.”
Daisy says, “It’s too early to talk about it. Currently, I am doing readings and perfecting my Urdu diction. I wanted to get into theatre as I feel people take you more seriously than as a film actress.”
Producer of Fuddu to file complaint against Manoj Tyagi over payment issues

Sonali Joshi Pitale (MID-DAY; October 4, 2014)
After a few months, Pradeep is said to have assured Manoj that he would work with him on another project, especially since he had paid Manoj Rs 5 lakh in advance. “Meanwhile, I liked the concept of Fuddu and decided to go ahead with this film. Accordingly, I asked writer Pawan Kumar to write the script. Then all of a sudden, Manoj called me and asked me about my film. He started out by speaking cordially, but later on, accused me of cheating him by not offering him another film. What’s more, he is now demanding a payment of Rs 3 lakh from me. But I cannot give him the money as I have not worked with him at all. In fact, he should return my money. When I told him this, he abused me and I am now going to register a case against him in Delhi and Mumbai.”
When contacted, Manoj, who has won two National Awards — one each for Page 3 and Aparahan — denied that he had had any argument with Pradeep.
