Even as 2025 winds down to a close, Ajay Devgn has no plans to slow down. mid-day has learnt that the actor wrapped up the shoot of director Jagan Shakti’s Ranger earlier this week, and will dive into the world of Drishyam 3 from December 15.

An action adventure also starring Tamannaah Bhatia, Ranger sees Devgn’s forest officer locking horns with Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist out to loot the jungle’s natural resources. Sources have told us that the final schedule was filmed in Palghar.

A source reveals, “Initially, the last leg was to be shot in the forests of Thailand and Sri Lanka. But after Cyclone Ditwah hit Sri Lanka last week, the makers decided to film the portions in India. They quickly zeroed in on Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary and Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary in Palghar district of Maharashtra.”

Now, Devgn is geared up to reprise his role of Vijay Salgaonkar from the hit thriller franchise Drishyam. From December 15, Abhishek Pathak, who helmed Drishyam 2 (2022), will call action on the third part in Mumbai.

The source adds, “The cast, including Akshaye Khanna and Tabu, will be a part of the 10-day Mumbai schedule during which indoor scenes will be canned. They will shoot till Christmas, before taking a New Year’s break. Drishyam 3’s shoot will resume from the first week of 2026, with the plan to wrap it up by April 2026.”

Following disclosures by Siddhesh Hiraman Kamble, alias Saurav, alias Mahakal, the Mumbai Crime Branch have formed three different teams in search of the persons who are suspected to have left a threat note near Salman Khan’s Bandra home.

Sources said investigators have zeroed in on some suspects and sent the teams to Rajasthan and Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

The suspects came on the radar of the Crime Branch during scanning of footage from a few CCTV cameras and the interrogation of Mahakal, who was arrested by the Pune Rural police in the murder of a criminal. Mahakal is also an accused in the Sidhu Moose Wala case and his name was released by the Punjab police.

“Our teams are searching for a few suspects at different locations who are involved in giving the threat to a Bollywood actor. The investigation is at the initial stage and we cannot reveal much now,” a Crime Branch officer said.

The Pune Rural police have also got some crucial leads in the death threat to Salman Khan. “We have sent one team to Delhi to interrogate Lawrence Bishnoi to ascertain how his gang is active in Maharashtra and who are the other members and if they are making some conspiracy which may disturb the law and order in the state,” said Kulwant Kumar Sarangal, state’s ADG (law and order).

He added, “The teams will also interrogate him about the threat note found outside a Bollywood celebrity’s house.”

Mumbai Crime Branch has also interrogated Bishnoi in Delhi, while DCP of Crime Branch Sangramsinh Nishandar interrogated Mahakal in Pune.

From providing financial assistance to the Hindi film industry’s 25,000 daily-wage workers, to giving ration kits to the underprivileged — Salman Khan helped many during the two lockdowns. Now, the actor has turned his attention to the educational needs of underprivileged children in rural areas. He has begun the initiative in the interiors of Palghar, Aurangabad and Parbhani districts as his not-for-profit organisation, Being Human, has an established network in the region.

Rahul N Kanal, Yuva Sena leader, who is coordinating the endeavour with the actor, reveals that the organisation has sent stationery, sanitisers and masks for students. “We have reached out to many schools in rural and tribal areas of those districts. Our on-ground volunteers check with the schools about their requirements, which are then supplied by Salman’s NGO. Salman bhai’s family has been involved,” he says.

After the pandemic, the superstar has apparently decided to put more emphasis on education and children’s health. Kanal adds, “These are the two aspects that he is closely working on. Now that the [educational aid] is underway, he intends to focus on nourishment. He has also asked me about the possibility of distributing protein bars to school kids.”
