After dating for over a year-and-a-half, Roadies and Splitsvilla creator Raghu Ram and his Canadian singer-girlfriend Natalie Di Luccio tied the knot in Goa in December 2018. In August last year, they announced that they are expecting their first child. On Monday, the couple welcomed a baby boy at a city hospital.
“Relieved,” is the first thing Raghu says when asked about becoming a father. “There are actually many emotions. We had been preparing for this for months. We learned more about pregnancy, child birth and baby care, but none of it really prepares you for parenthood,” Raghu shares, adding that the mother and child are healthy and safe and hailing child-birth as “magical and awe-inspiring”.
He goes on to inform that Natalie opted for a water birth with hypnobirthing techniques “for a beautiful, calm and natural process. As far as the name goes, it was important for the new parents to 'find a multi-cultural, multi-national and multilingual name to reflect our union, so we picked ‘Rhythm’. More importantly, it can’t be linked with any religion,” smiles Raghu.
At home, the baby will be welcomed into a brand-new nursery. “We moved houses the minute we found out about the pregnancy to make room for the baby. Natalie had been obsessively nesting, which also gave her the opportunity to do up the new place; it was completely empty when we moved in. She decorated the nursery with beautiful quotations and messages from my friends on the walls. There are also cute little animals, clouds and stars in the room. It has a beautiful vibe,” Raghu signs off.

Beach wedding for Raghu, Natalie
Earlier this month (December 3), MTV Roadies creator Raghu Ram had spilled the beans to Mirror on his mid-month nuptials with Canadian singer-actress Natalie Di Luccio. “The wedding will be chaotic, nothing grand but something fun with family and friends. More than a wedding, it’s a celebration of us coming together,” he had asserted, adding that having a December wedding was the lady’s idea.On Wednesday, the couple tied the knot in a beach ceremony in Goa. Celebrations had kicked off with a mehendi, followed by an Andhra-style wedding. The couple will tie the knot in Goa with a white wedding, a traditional Indian ceremony and lots of fun, food and games

Raghu Ram, who created the popular youth show MTV Roadies with brother Rajiv Lakshman, is all set to tie the knot with Canadian singer-girlfriend Natalie Di Luccio. The wedding will be held in Goa over three days. The couple who come from different cultural backgrounds will have a white wedding along with a traditional Indian ceremony.
Raghu admitted to Mirror that everything, from their age and culture to their public image and food, are very different. Also, he’s yet to start prepping for D-Day because he’s been working on an online project. “The wedding is scheduled for mid-December and will be chaotic, nothing grand but something fun with family and friends. More than a wedding, it’s a celebration of us coming together,” he asserted, saying having it in December was Natalie’s idea and he was happy to agree.
Brother Rajiv has been busy coordinating the arrangements. His sister, Supriya, is flying down from Singapore today to help out. “Besides the two weddings, there will be a lot of singing, dancing and games,” he promises, adding that the cuisine will be a mix of local delicacies and favourite dishes from both sides. “If we do the wedding right, I will have no memory of it, so, the idea is to have so much of everything that no one remembers anything,” he signs off with a laugh.
Natalie Di Luccio has really taken me by surprise-Raghu Ram

Raghu Ram on his singer girlfriend Natalie Di Luccio as they complete one year of togetherness
Avinash Lohana (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 28, 2018)
On Monday, Roadies and Splitsvilla creator Raghu Ram marked the first anniversary of his relationship with Canadian singer Natalie Di Luccio with a heartfelt post on the social media. “Natalie, you once told me that you needed to believe in magic. Well, here’s your proof. You walked into my life a year ago today and impossibly, everything inside me changed. I feel Love. I feel Happiness. I feel Hope. I feel. Again. All because of you… I love you,” he wrote.
It was in 2010, when Raghu chanced upon Natalie’s YouTube channel, and was instantly taken up by her rendition of the song “Kahin Toh Hogi Woh” from the Imran Khan and Geneilia D’Souza-starrer Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. Incidentally, the 2008 Abbas Tyrewala-directed film had also featured Raghu’s ex-wife, Sugandha Garg.
“I forwarded her videos to a few friends. Later, she was in Mumbai and apparently everyone she met asked her to connect with me. When we finally did in 2011, she put up a picture with me on Facebook and everyone warned her against me. We met socially once or twice over the years. I always found her sweet, gentle and graceful,” he gushes, adding that Natalie, who has done playback for films like Chennai Express, Band Baaja Baaraat, Chalo Dilli and Bittoo Boss can sing in French, German, Italian and six Indian languages.
The couple reconnected several years later, when Raghu found another video of Natalie. “We decided to meet up and we got along really well. One thing led to another and here we are. On March 26 last year, we made it official as a couple, Natalie has really taken me by surprise,” he says, adding that they have even collaborated on a single “Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein” that released last December.
Ask him if his ex, with whom he has stayed friends after parting ways in 2015 (their divorce was finalised in January), is aware of the relationship and Raghu says, “Sugandha was the first one to know about Natalie from me. She said that if she had to pick a girl for me it would be her. They’ve had many conversations behind my back. I am sure Sugandha has given some advice on the dos and don’ts with me. She also told me about the mistakes I should avoid making this time,” smiles Raghu.
Are wedding bells on the cards soon? “I am living a dream right now and doing things I thought I would never do. I am in a relationship with somebody I am head-over-heels in love with. Marriage? Yes, why not? I am open to it,” Raghu signs off on a promising note.
I didn't want to live after Natalie Di Luccio left me-Eijaz Khan

Neha Maheshwri Bhagat (BOMBAY TIMES; October 8, 2016)
These days, we don't see you enough on TV...
That's because I get bored. At 40, your work should excite you. It's pointless going through the process if the passion is missing. I am spending time with my father. It's not that I am not working. Since this is the only work that pays me, I come back whenever I am broke. But, it's not just about making money anymore.
Do you feel insecure seeing so many new faces in the industry?
I am happy that so many people want to act. I won't call them actors though. You don't become an actor by hitting the gym. Such people don't want to be actors; they want to be stars.
Your Bollywood career didn't shape up the way you must have expected after Tanu Weds Manu...
I agree. Probably, nobody recognised me as a Sardar. In hindsight, it's a blessing that people only saw the character and not me. It means I delved deep into the character. But TV doesn't require that. In fact, in the television industry, people ask me why I want to go deep into a character. Well, I am not a dumb actor. I will ask questions about my role so that I can deliver to the best of my abilities. I wouldn't have lasted had I not been like this. TV has become a medium to make money and money corrupts me. It's too late to change my approach and thinking. I am basically laid-back and believe that I will get what I deserve.
Why did your relationship with Natalie end?
We were two amazing people at different phases in our lives. The root cause of our relationship falling apart was my psyche. It started going downhill during Laut Aao Trisha. I played a dark character, who turns bitter after losing his wife and daughter. Somewhere, the lines blurred between real and reel and our relationship suffered. I had to undergo therapy for depression, and it made me realise that I was superimposing my childhood memories to play the part. I also realised that all my issues are deeply rooted in my childhood. I had unresolved issues with my parents after they parted ways. My aunts took turns to look after me. I never had a strong bond with my parents. I was always looking for someone to hold on to, some sort of an anchor.
Coming back to Natalie, we remain cordial. I never loved anybody like I loved her - like a child, my equal, a friend, travel partner. I don't think it was right for me to expect Natalie to give her precious time to our relationship. I would have also advised her to focus on her career if I were her family. I am the only person who knows the real Natalie. After she left, I was very disturbed to the point of not wanting to live anymore. I would lock myself up in my room for days on end. As actors, we are emotionally fragile. On top of that, we men are expected to be macho and strong, no matter how broken we are inside.
Has therapy helped you?
I won't say I am at peace, but I have started directing my energies towards my goal. That eases me out. I am in turmoil when I am not working, as I have to live with myself.
You put your career on hold when you were in the relationship...
Natalie didn't ask me to. I invested my time, energy and happiness in her without being asked. Love and respect make my world go round. I become the best person for my partner. I give so much expecting the same or more in return - it doesn't stem from self-respect, it stems from insecurity. I have abandonment issues. If I love somebody, I need to be loved back. But overwhelming your partner is not right. I won't mind putting my career on the backburner if my partner wants me to stay at home and take care of the child. I am an actor and can return to the field whenever I want.
What do you think about love and marriage?
I am not averse to the idea, but I am not looking forward to it either. I can't go through the trauma of losing someone again.
Rajkumar Hirani faces the camera for Sonu Nigam in his next video?

The video will also feature the singer's son, Nevaan
Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; May 19, 2016)
Sonu Nigam grabbed eyeballs
earlier this week when he disguised himself as a poor man and sang on
the streets of Mumbai without being recognized as part of a social
experiment. The video in question was to check out if the city that
never sleeps would pause for a moment to listen to an old and
impoverished singer. Now, Mirror has learnt that he is all set to launch
another video which will feature his friends from Bollywood besides a
surprise performance by his eight-yearold son Nevaan. Among the B-town
A-listers is Munnabhai, 3 Idiots and PK director Rajkumar Hirani.
A source associated with the project confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, the star-studded video will feature Raju Hirani playing himself. It's just a one-scene appearance with an interesting part in which Raju tells Sonu that the sets are grand, the video great but it lacks soul and Sonu needs to bring in some innocence. That paved the way for Nevaan's entry.“ The filmmaker agreed to face the camera because of the great equation he shares with Sonu.
Director-choreographer Farah Khan and singer-composer Kailash Kher will also be seen in fun roles, along with Italian-Canadian classical crossover singer Natalie Di Luccio who plays an Egyptian princess and comedian Sunil Grover best known as Gutthi. The video has been directed by Sonal Batra and will be launched on YouTube channel Culture machine next week.
“It is a peppy dance number. Sonu approached Raju personally and agreed to do it as an affectionate gesture,“ adds the source.

A R Rahman told me to sing like I am on Broadway-Natalie Di Luccio

This is what AR Rahman told Italian-Canadian singer Natalie Di Luccio before recording their first Tamil opera
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 27, 2014)
Italian-Canadian singer Natalie Di Luccio has recently sung an opera number for director Shankar's upcoming Tamil film I. What makes this even more interesting is the fact that this is the first time Grammy-winning composer A R Rahman is dabbling in the genre.
Titled Aila Aila, the song mixes opera with pop, and classical music.
The 24-year old singer, who has also sung the Hindi and Telugu version of the song, calls this her toughest project till date. "This was the first time I sang an opera in Tamil. I didn't understand the lyrics at all. And I had to sing for minimum lengths of 10-15 seconds. Three different lyricists penned down the words for the versions and their job seemed tougher than mine as they were trying to keep the lyrics as easy to pronounce as possible," says Natalie.
When asked what it was like to work with Rahman, she says, "'Sing like you are on Broadway', that is what he told me and then he let me improvise."
The singer first came to India in 2009, after her recording of Sonu Nigam's Maha Ganesha went viral. And once she recorded a tribute to Michael Jackson with Nigam, offers started trickling in from B'town.
After recording this song, it seems A R Rahman has taken a keen fondness for her voice and the singer can be seen accompanying the maestro to most of his concerts. "We sang Aila for the first time together at a concert in Chennai last week. Generally, Rahman leaves immediately after his performance is over. But this time since it was his first experimental opera number and the concert was his hometown and he waited for a group hug," she quips.
The Tamil song has already become a hit number in the South and the Hindi and Telugu versions will be released on New Year's Eve.
Natalie will next be seen in three music videos by Canadian songwriter and music producer Matthew Tishler. Shooting for the same will begin next month in Rajasthan.
Natalie has also recorded another number with Rahman for a big Bollywood film, but the singer refuses to divulge the details. "I cannot reveal anything about the song. Only that we have finished recording the song and it will be released in Tamil and Telugu as well."
