After Azhar, I want to do more such films in future-Emraan Hashmi

Actor wants to work in more such films now after giving a year-and-a-half to the biopic, is equally gung-ho about taking two franchises forward
Roshmila Bhattacharya (MUMBAI MIRROR; March 7, 2016)
Emraan Hashmi is currently
in Romania wrapping up Raaz Reboot. Later in the year, he will kick off
Murder 4 with Vikram Bhatt again as director, this despite his earlier
reservations of taking a hit franchise ahead after completing a trilogy.
Remind him of this and he admits that at that point he couldn't see how
either of these films could be taken forward. “But Vikram came to me
with a fantastic concept for Raaz 4 which convinced me that it could be
done. Ditto for Murder. A month ago, in Romania, Vikram narrated a
one-line concept which just blew me away and I decided that after the
successful Murder 2, I wanted to do Part 4 too as it will be a game
changer in the genre,“ the actor reasons.
Meanwhile, buzz is that he's playing a vampire or may be the devil himself in the new Raaz. The query is greeted with a guffaw, “I can't reveal anything because going by the title it's a deep dark secret. You'll know once you watch the film.“
However, before these two franchises hit the screen, Emraan will be out with the Azhar biopioc which he admits really challenged him as an actor. “Before this in my 12-year career, I never focussed exclusively on a film for a year-and-a-half. It was a risk and meant getting out of my comfort zone. It meant training in a sport, learning the moves, spending hours with Azhar (Mohd. Azharuddin) to understand how he sees himself, familiarise myself with his life before recreating it on screen. Every film comes with its own challenges but this one demanded 10 times the work of a regular film since Azhar is a public figure. It was a nerve wrecking experience,“ he admits.
With his last few films, including Ghanchakkar, Raja Natwarlal, Hamari Adhuri Kahani and Mr X not faring well at the box-office, some may well believe that Emraan is going through a bad patch professionally but the actor himself calls it his 'reinvention phase'. “Some people see the glass as half empty, I always see it as half full,“ he smiles, pointing out that watching his six-year-old son, Ayaan, win the battle over cancer has changed him as a person. “It was a knockout punch which can bring the castles you have been building in air crumbling down and instills fear in you initially. But once you accept the fact, there is a certain fearlessness and a sense of empathy not just with those who are coping with terminal illness, but human beings in general because you are aware that what happened to you can strike some one else too,“ he insists. He says that he's never been bogged down by social diktats, industry rules or criticism in his choice of roles. “But after going through what I did with Ayaan, I feel I can now deal with anything,“ Emraan smiles.
Azhar has lost a son, Ayazuddin, at 19 to a bike accident. Did this bring them closer? “He knew what my son was going through so maybe in a way it connected us, created a bond of sorts, but it was unspoken. However, after Azhar one thing is for sure, I want to do more such films in future,“ Emraan signs off.

Murder 4 will reinvent Emraan Hashmi's image-Mahesh Bhatt

The fourth instalment of the successful franchise will be directed by Vikram Bhatt and is set to roll this year
Natasha Coutinho (MUMBAI MIRROR; February 11, 2016)
Mirror (August 27, 2015) was the first to inform that Murder 4 was on the way."The coincidence between a pure work of fiction and real life staggers me, it makes me shudder," he had admitted.
However, Vikram Bhatt, who will be directing the four instalment of this hit franchise, is quick to clarify that Murder 4 is not inspired by Indrani Mukerjea's gruesome crime. "It's just Mahesh Bhatt had confessed last year, soon after the Sheena Bora murder case broke, that he was shocked by the similarities in his script, then titled Ab Raat Guzarnewali Hai, and the headline-grabbing events, similar in its sensibilities. One wants to explore the depravity of the human mind the way it was done in Murder 2, to an extent," asserts the director, who is currently filming the fourth Raaz.
Mahesh Bhatt reiterated this, adding that Emraan Hashmi, who featured in Murder and Murder 2, will be back in this release for which scripting is underway. "It's too early to reveal details of his character but it's a strong role and will reinvent his image, along with the Azhar biopic. I'm just waiting for Vikram to complete Raaz Reboot and then we will plan this one. It's been a lucrative franchise for us and we have to make Murder 4 bigger and better," he revealed.
Vikram agrees with him that the franchise is important for their production house and all their top directors, from Anurag Basu to Mohit Suri, and Vishesh Bhatt, who made his directorial debut with Murder 3, have added their own colour to it, which makes the job that much more challenging for him. "When the other batsmen before you have done well, there's more pressure on you," says Vikram, shivering in minus 20 degrees in Romania and admitting that he'd wish to film the next one in more temperate climes. "It should roll in the second half of the year."

MID-DAY (July 31, 2015)
Director Vikram Bhatt has decided to put his next film in the Murder franchise on hold as his mentor, Mahesh Bhatt, felt it was not feasible post the debacle of his last venture, Mr X. He now plans to begin shooting for another film with a fresh story as well as star cast.
A source says, “Vikram had another script in hand and after discussing it with the Bhatts, got a nod.
The film will go on floors on August 9 in Cape Town. He has decided to call it Love Games, a title that he had reserved for Murder. It will star Patralekhaa, Tara Alisha Berry and mark the debut of model Gaurav Arora, who is rumoured to dating Kriti Sanon.”
Confirming the development, Bhatt says, “That narrative was going to be Murder 4, which seemed tired, worn out and fatigued at moment. So, Vikram pulled out another script from enormous work he has been doing all this while, which captivating story of the times we live in. The film shows physical passion and also connects to the heart so touches lust and peaks love. The shooting will start in Cape Town.”
Stating that the casting couldn’t have been better, adds: “Vikram, after the humiliating defeat of Mr X has got a new DNA. I see new beginning for him,” adds Bhatt.
While Patralekhaa says she is looking forward the shoot, Vikram says, "I am excited because something I have never done. (It is) Twisted and sexy.”
No Emraan Hashmi in Murder 4 either

In May, 2014, Mahesh Bhatt had said that having burnt their fingers with Murder 3, in which Randeep Hooda had replaced Emraan Hashmi, they'd realised that Emraan is an inseparable part of the brand. But now he has revised his opinion and insists that the Murder franchise does not belong to any one actor.
"Emraan Hashmi will not be there in Murder 4. He has matured as an actor and graduated to meaningful films like Hamari Adhuri Kahani. There's also Mr X. He doesn't need a franchise anymore," reasons Bhatt, adding that Murder 4 that rolls next year will have new faces.
The film is a remake of the Telugu film, Maaya, revolving around a TV journalist with extra sensory powers whose gutwrenching vision about Siddharth, the fashion designer she's in love with and who's engaged to her childhood friend, shatters her life completely.
"My brother, Mukesh Bhatt, had seen the film and suggested I watch it. I was riveted and as soon as the film was over I called Neelkantha (writer-director G Neelkanta Reddy) and asked him to helm it for us," he says, adding that the subject has scope for erotica, young actors, hit music and offers an edge-of-the-seat experience - all the components which have made Murder a profitable brand for over a decade.
He believes coming from a different cultural background, Neelkanta will bring new colours into the brand.
"Despite being a remake of Maaya, Murder 4 will not be a copy-paste job. We will take the broad parameters of the narrative and take it into a new space. Vikram Bhatt is co-writing the script with Neelkanta and will adapt it keeping the Hindi film audience in mind."
