MISSION RANIGANJ collected a poor 18.25 crore nett in week one which is practically nothing. The box office has give clear messages in the last 9-12 months as to what the audience wants to see especially with big stars. This film was started before before the clear box office signals. So, its not much of an issue but if this is happening in a year or two and star films are opening like this, then it would mean the industry has not understood the changing audience profile.

The film will get some benefit of National Cinema Day as will all releases being screened at present which will mean a steady second weekend as Saturday and Sunday were always going to have better collections. But from Monday, there will not be much to come.

There are probably still a few shockers to come with content more for pre pandemic times but as mentioned it can't be happening with films which have gone on the floors this year.

MISSION RANIGANJ dropped further on Tuesday as it collected around 1.60 crore nett taking its total to 15.50 crore nett and the week looks to be heading for 18.50 crore nett. The film will do more than SELFIEE but the BELLBOTTOM number is unlikely to be reached.

The simple fact is that this film should be doing higher number than these films. This is not to say it should have done 100 crore or something but the results here show that even after August and September, if the audience is keeping away and the numbers which would have come here pre pandemic are not coming.

It again reiterates the importance of getting people in as that's the only way a film stands a chance especially if the film has a big star. If there was some of initial here then this would not have seen a fate as bad as this. The film is dull all over while areas like Maharashtra and Nizam/Andhra are seeing very bad collections.

There was good growth on Saturday but when the starting point is low, the growth has to be phenomenal and at the very least double up. The Sunday collections were hit by the match where the film probably lost around 50 lakhs nett but that hardly changes the scenario for the film.

The film itself is not actually as bad as a SELFIEE and it should get a better run than that film but its all about the initial when there is a star in the film and the very dull initial makes its impossible for the film. Now it becomes about remaining in cinemas till Diwali and see where that takes you but before that it needs some sort of hold on Monday.

THANK YOU FOR COMING put up a 3 crore nett weekend and with just 45% growth on Saturday it pretty much tells the story of this film. It has faced total REJECTION even at the high end premium multiplexes though they are obviously better than other multiplexes. Here, even the cricket match hardly affected the growth on Sunday as no one has really come to watch the film. The biggest joke is the attempt to make a film a success through PR and media. The target for the film are the collections of last week's THE VACCINE WAR.

The difference between THE VACCINE WAR and THANK YOU FOR COMING is that the makers of the former accepted the film is a rejected and a disaster. Here with THANK YOU FOR COMING, there is an attempt to make the film a success through PR and the media. Its probably one of the very rare times that a total disaster and outright rejected film is trying to be made into a success. If its an average or something and then you attempt to make it a hit then, its understandable somewhat. But this attempt can only be laughed. Also the content is laughable and the audience has totally given the deserved results.

MISSION RANIGANJ was very dull on Monday as it collected 1.65-1.75 crore nett taking its total to 14 crore nett in four days which is nothing. The writing was on the wall on day one but if it managed to get the same number on Monday as Friday then maybe a respectable number would be possible but the growth on Saturday did not really point that way.

The first week will do 19 crore nett business apprx and there will not be much to come even though there are no releases next week. The outcome is pretty clear that big stars have to work in the more traditional genres which allows them to be heroes at the present time of point unless its an established franchise.

It was lights out for THANK YOU FOR COMING pretty much as expected as the reports were so bad. The only thing which remains to be seen with this film is does that fake perception of the film being a success continue post the weekend or has the public verdict which was clear on Friday finally hit a crazy delusional lot. The target was probably was similar business to last week's disaster THE VACCINE WAR but it does not look like getting there with a first week of 4.50 crore nett.

MISSION RANIGANJ showed a jump of around 55% which would have been decent if the film had collections but with the first day hardly hitting the 3 crore nett mark, the growth is just not enough. The film actually had to double up on the Saturday though despite being the wider release, it has managed more growth on Saturday than the other two releases.

The cinema reports of the film are better than the numbers but when no one is coming, these figures hardly matter as the film will go pretty unnoticed and you need phenomenal public reports to do a rescue act from here. The only hope for some sort of run is Monday scores more than Friday which will be a miracle with 55% growth on Saturday.

Despite the main character of the film being a Sikh, the film is scoring lesser numbers in East Punjab than FUKREY 3 which is in week two. Both Friday and Saturday were lower. When eEast Punjab is not there for a sardar film, then it is practically impossible in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Nizam/Andhra. The Sunday is likely to be affected by the cricket match between India and Australia.
