Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; December 6, 2021)
Producer Shiladitya Bora backed acclaimed films Masaan (2015) and Newton (2017) during his stint at Drishyam Films, before branching out as an indie filmmaker and bankrolling Sir (2018). Now, the producer is expanding his skill set by turning director with Bhagwan Bharose. The drama, featuring Vinay Pathak and Masumeh Makhija, was recently wrapped up in Deogarh, Jharkhand.
For Bora, Bhagwan Bharose marks the realisation of his dream. “Many a time, I came close to directing my first feature, but failed. Finally, after a wait of close to 20 years, I wrapped up the shoot of my directorial debut. You need divine intervention to pull off a film independently, and I got that in abundance,” he says.
The director adds that if all goes well, the coming-of-age drama will reach the audiences before 2022-end. Pathak, who describes the movie as a sweet and special story, adds, “I’m lucky to be a part of Shiladitya’s first directorial venture. May this be the start of his illustrious journey.”

Sharman Joshi, who was last seen in Vishal Pandya’s 2016 drama Wajah Tum Ho, has just wrapped up the Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani production 3 Storeys which, as the title implies, is three stories culminating in one.
“The one with me and Masumeh (Makhija) is a love story with the exes meeting after years. The second story revolves around Richa Chadha and Renuka Shahane and the third is about a teenage couple,” informs Sharman, who is rehearsing for his play Natak Na Natak Nu Natak, a Gujarati adaptation of The Play That Goes Wrong.
He’s also signed another film about a love triangle with Sonalee Kulkarni as an aspiring actress, Tejashree Pradhan as a journalist and him as a bachelor on the lookout for a bride. Titled Babloo Bachelor, the film marks Bengali director Agnidev Chatterjee’s Bollywood debut. “I loved the script, it’s hilarious, and after a really long time gave my nod to a film immediately. We start shooting from October 3 in Lucknow where the story is set followed by Mumbai and should wrap up by January,” informs the actor.

The actress will narrate a light-hearted comedy about the residents of a chawl
Kinnari Shailendra Singh (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 18, 2015)
Mirror (December 31, 2014) had earlier reported that Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani are producing a film titled 3 Storeys, featuring Sharman Joshi, Pulkit Samrat, Shefali Shah and Masumeh Makhija. Now, Mirror has learnt that Shefali who was recently seen as Anil Kapoor's wife in Dil Dhadakne Do, has been replaced by Renuka Shahane.
And Richa Chadha has joined the cast as a narrator. Says Richa, "During my debut film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! I worked with executive producer, Priya Sreedharan, for the first time. We have shared a special bond over the years and when she requested me to do this cameo I readily agreed. My look is very desi, almost poetic and I wear beautiful, ethnic clothes," says Richa who joined the team in March and wrapped up her part in just 10 days. "Even though it's a special appearance a lot of detailing has gone into the character," she adds
The film which rolled in January, follows the lives of the lower middle-class residents living on different floors of the chawl as they cope with day-today situations. It touches on the lack of space in the city which breeds colourful characters and leads to interesting, interpersonal relationships.
The light-hearted comedy also marks the Bollywood directorial debut of ad filmmaker, Arjun Mukerjee. Relativity Media, the Hollywood studio behind biggies like The Bourne Legacy, Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street, has tied up with the producers to give the film a mainstream release in the US.
