Master collects 125.50 cr in Week 1

MASTER did excellent business in its extended first week of around
125 crore nett though the film did face drops on the weekdays. The film
collected a huge 101 crore nett plus in the first five days and added 24
crore nett over the next four days. The film was driven by huge
star power and holiday period but the content probably had average
appreciation.
Basically these numbers show that the audience came in big numbers
despite Coronavirus restrictions but the film itself is the reason for the
slowing collections. Despite the dropping collections, it should hit the
150 crore nett mark though its going be Tamil Nadu that most of the
business will come from here on.
The final business of the film in its home state will fall around 15-20%
short of the highest Tamil grosser BIGIL in terms of GROSS business
which is a huge result whichever way you look it in these times. Also it
has to be said the film has not really gone through post the initial
which makes it looks even more better.
The collections of MASTER (all
formats) across India are as follows.
Tamil Nadu - 78,00,00,000 apprx
Nizam / Andhra - 22,00,00,000 apprx
Mysore / Karnataka - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 9,00,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits - 4,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,25,50,00,000 apprx

Mysore / Karnataka - 12,25,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 9,00,00,000 apprx

MASTER collected 114.50 crore nett across India which is a huge
collection but the collections of the film are slowing down. The
trending now on weekdays is actually best for the Hindi version but the
Tamil version in Hindi circuits is not collecting much now.
The film is dropping now across South but the job is done with the huge
volume of business over the initial five days due to star power. The
film may get to 150 crore nett depending on how it fares in the second
week. The Overseas market has seen far bigger drops but the job is done
there also with the first five days.
The Overseas market with did around $4.75 million over the weekend and
lifetime will probably go to around $6.25 million. The film is probably
looking at a worldwide gross of 225 crore apprx which means it would
probably have been the second 300 crore worldwide grosser from the Tamil
film industry after 2.0 if the conditions were normal.
The collections
of MASTER in the first week are as follows
Wednesday - 35,00,00,000
Thursday - 19,00,00,000
Friday - 15,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,00,00,000
Sunday - 16,00,00,000
Monday - 8,25,00,000

MASTER saw a drop in collections on Monday which was likely after the
extended five day holiday weekend as it collected in the 8-8.50 crore
nett range. The numbers are still good considering the excellent
weekend. The total collections of the film are now 108 crore nett as
the weekend came in at a little lower than numbers given yesterday.
The toughest battle for the film was going to be in Tamil Nadu as it was
hefty price but it will get there despite Monday showing a drop. The
end result in Tamil Nadu looks to be collections finishing around 15-20%
of Vijay's last film BIGIL which is an extraordinary result in the
circumstances. It may well finish up among the top five Tamil films in
Tamil Nadu in terms of NETT collections though not GROSS.
The worldwide figures are 160 crore GROSS plus in six days and the film
is probably looking to be 25% short here from the 288 crore of BIGIL but
that is because its probably lost $5m over the first five days in
Overseas due to markets being shut. Irrespective of where it goes from
here, its a huge result to be this close to BIGIL which is the second
highest grossing film in Tamil film industry after 2.0. The first seven days should see MASTER at around 115 crore nett plus.
The collections of MASTER in the first six days are as follows.
Wednesday - 35,00,00,000
Thursday - 19,00,00,000
Friday - 15,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,00,00,000
Sunday - 16,00,00,000
Monday - 8,25,00,000
TOTAL - 1,08,25,00,000

Friday - 15,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,00,00,000
Sunday - 16,00,00,000

MASTER collected around 104 crore nett over its extended five day
weekend which is a huge total even if their were no Coronavirus restrictions. The
film has done phenomenal business in Tamil Nadu and is very good in
other circuits of South India.
The poor performance is in Hindi but that was expected. The Tamil versions in Hindi markets has performed like most of these films did pre-Covid 19. Overall the Hindi markets saw around 3.50 crore nett in all formats. The first three days saw close to 70 crore nett across India which is the biggest three day weekend total in India since DABANGG 3 in December 2019 but this is post Coronavirus era. It is ahead of films like DARBAR, ALA VAIKUNTHAPURRAMULOO and TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR which were the biggest openers in early 2020 when things were normal.
The film earned a huge $4.75 million in Overseas and this came with a very
limited USA release and no Malaysia which are the best markets for Tamil
films. The worldwide GROSS crossed 150 crore with around 121 crore
(103.75 nett) in India and a further 35 crore ($4.75m) Overseas for 156
crore GROSS total.
The territorial breakdown for MASTER in all formats
across India over its extended weekend is as follows
Mumbai - 1,75,00,000
Delhi / UP - 80,00,000
East Punjab - 10,00,000
Rajasthan - N/A
CP Berar - 25,00,000

Master collects 2.60 cr in 4 days in Hindi markets

MASTER has grossed around 2.50 crore nett plus in all formats across the
Hindi belts in four days with over 50% contribution from Mumbai circuit
and around 25% from Delhi/UP. The film has not done well in Hindi
but if we look at the Tamil/Telugu (mainly Tamil), then its par for the
course despite releasing in pandemic times.
The Tamil and Telugu contribution is 1.35 crore nett apprx till date and
if we go to 2019 then the final business of SAAHO, SYE RAA NARASIMHA REDDY and BIGIL was in the 2-2.50 crore nett range for all three films
in their original languages. If SAAHO was dubbed into Tamil the
contribution would have been very limited just as is the contribution of MASTER in
Telugu.
MASTER is looking at a similar number as there is Sunday to come and
although Monday will see low levels it is certain to get over the 2
crore nett mark. These films in original language do not have legs due
to a very limited audience which is frontloaded. So it will struggle to
go over 2.50 crore nett but 2 crore nett is practically certain. It has
released in the pandemic but its business is pretty much
similar to the major regional films of 2019 in their own languages. The
film released in 700 theatres in Hindi and around 250 in Tamil and
Telugu.
The business of MASTER in all formats in Hindi circuits is as
follows.
Wednesday - 55,00,000 (Tamil & Telugu only)
Thursday - 70,00,000 apprx
Friday - 60,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,60,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 70,00,000 apprx
Friday - 60,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,60,00,000 apprx

MASTER continued its good run on Friday with collections around the
14-15 crore nett mark. There are drops in collections but the overall
level is good especially if you consider the situation with cinema
business across the country.
The three day collections of the film is 68.50 crore nett in all formats
and there is the weekend to come. So the chances will be there for the film
to hit the 100 crore nett mark over the extended weekend which is a
huge number whichever way you look at it post Coronavirus.
The film is certain to go through in Nizam/Andhra, Karnataka and
Kerala while Tamil Nadu should reach its target in time though its a
heavy price tag in this situation. The Hindi markets have not fared well
with the Tamil version doing normal business (which is actually good
considering Coronavirus). Meanwhile there were expectations put on the Hindi
version but its a film for single screens but most remain shut and hence VIJAY THE MASTER was mainly a multiplex release.
The business of MASTER in
all formats till date is as follows.
Wednesday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 19,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 14,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 68,50,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 19,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 14,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 68,50,00,000 apprx

MASTER has become the best performing film in UAE post Coronavirus. The film
has beaten the numbers of Hollywood biggies like WONDER WOMAN 1984 and TENET despite releasing on far less theatres. The film is going very
strong in UAE as collections jumped 50% on Friday.
MASTER has collected $1.4 million in two days and previews in UAE which
would be a good collection even if it was not a pandemic situation but
with the pandemic it is an extraordinary number. These collections are
from UAE only and do not include the rest of Gulf.
The top five films
openings in UAE since cinemas opened are as follows. Numbers in
brackets are cinemas.
1. Master - $1.4 million (50)
2. Wonder Woman 1984 - $1.1 million (200)
3. Tenet - $855,000 (240)
4. Mulan - $818,000 (208)

MASTER continued to do good business on day two with business over 20
crore nett. The film opened in its dubbed Hindi format VIJAY THE MASTER but the response was not too good. The film went to around 900 screens
but was mainly a multiplex release as most single screens in the Hindi
circuits remain shut and dubbed films have a very limited market in
multiplexes.
VIJAY THE MASTER collected around 35 lakhs nett with collections mainly
from Mumbai circuit with around 15 lakhs. North India collected 7 lakhs
nett while East India was also 7 lakhs nett and a further 5-6 lakhs
nett came from CP Berar, CI and Marathawada. These collections may seem
low but its par for the course for a South dubbed film which is not
coming with any brand value.
Overall the film is doing very good business as its target audience in
the South is coming to the theatres. The film saw a drop in Nizam/Andhra but that was expected as there were new Telugu releases
yesterday. The film is still a HIT in Nizam/Andhra. Tamil Nadu is good
as it saw a normal drop on day two and took its two day total to 33.50
crore nett in the state. The all India two day business of the film is
around 55 crore nett which is excellent.
The second day breakdown for
the film is as follows
Tamil Nadu - 13,00,00,000 apprx
Nizam / Andhra - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Karnataka - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits - 60,00,000 apprx (including Tamil and Telugu)
TOTAL - 20,10,00,000 apprx
Nizam / Andhra - 2,75,00,000 apprx
Karnataka - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 1,75,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits - 60,00,000 apprx (including Tamil and Telugu)
