MARY KOM dropped badly on Monday as it recorded business in the 3.25-3.50 crore nett range taking its four day total to 30.50 crore nett. The film had trended well over the weekend but there was always a chance of drop as it was premium multiplexes carrying the film which usually drop on Monday and there were so many screenings. The film is showing a 55% drop from Monday.
The pick up in business in mass circuits should have helped as collections were low and it should have easily shown an under 50% drop from Friday in mass circuits but only CI managed to do this.
The film is heading for a first week of around 38-39 crore nett but will find it hard to hit the 50 crore nett mark for lifetime business. The film is fair in terms of costs as a lot of advertising was paid by brands involved in the film but it will not cover the prices paid for it be it the all India theatrical rights or the distributors who paid pretty high rates in various circuits.
--------------------------
MARY KOM was steady on Tuesday showing a small drop from Monday but the weekday collections are down quite a bit from the weekend business. The approx daily business is as follows
Friday - 7,45,00,000
Saturday - 9,05,00,000
Sunday - 10,80,00,000
Monday - 3,60,00,000
Tuesday - 3,25,00,000
If MARY KOM can hold like Tuesday on the next two days it may reach the 40 crore nett mark for the first week business.
--------------------------
Mary Kom struggled on the weekdays with low collections as it recorded a 39.50 crore nett first week. The film started pretty well especially at high end multiplexes and showed good growth at multiplexes on Saturday and Sunday but collections came down pretty badly on Monday. Although the film remained pretty steady over the rest of the week, the damage had been done on Monday.
A near 40 crore nett is a reasonable figure for the first week but the film has not found appreciation with the audience so will not add much after the first week.
A film like RAGINI MMS 2 which is heroine centric but in the horror/sex genre so if it is to score will do best initially and manages a 23 crore nett weekend and finishes at 46.50 crore nett. Here a so called content based film is doing a 27 crore nett weekend and struggling to double its weekend like RAGINI MMS 2 really tells about how good the content really is. Overall the producers are safe as they got good prices for the film and much of the advertising was done by brands involved in the film but the investors will lose.
--------------------------
MARY KOM dropped on its eight day grossing around 1.25-1.50 crore nett. The film was dropping over the weekdays and the fact that two new major releases came up also made a further dent into its collections
The film has now grossed around 41 crore nett in eight days and should just about cross the 50 crore nett mark. The drop in collections on day eight from day one is around 80%.
The film should be able to grow on Saturday and Sunday but the film should have done better considering its opening weekend business but the appreciation from the audience was missing..

MARY KOM showed good growth on Saturday as it grossed around 9 crore nett. Even mass circuits were up slightly although they won't really go anywhere the multiplexes especially as the cities are doing good business. The big cities all showed good gains on Saturday
The two day business till date is as follows.
Friday - 7,44,00,00
Saturday - 9,10,00,000
TOTAL - 16,54,00,000
------------------------------------
MARY KOM had a good weekend as it grossed of around 27.24 crore nett. The business was mixed as far as individual circuits were concerned, with the ones dominated by multiplexes doing well while others were dull to average.
The best business came in Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Mysore and West Bengal. The business is very good for a female centric film with just Priyanka Chopra as the only recognisable face in the film. It is the highest weekend of all time for such a film. Even no sex/horror genre film has got such figures where the only face value is female lead.
MARY KOM also showed a good trend over the weekend with 20% approx growth on Saturday and Sunday (10.70 crore approx) which should hold it in good stead for the weekdays. The only problem is that some in the trade thought it would do very good business and paid pretty high prices. The all India domestic rights went for 26 crore and then some territories were sold at good prices and on that it needs the weekdays to sustain well so that it can go towards recovery. A circuit like CP Berar was sold for 1.5 crore and the weekend share is 70 lakhs and so it has a lot of work to do in such circuits.
