For the anniversary edition of a leading fashion magazine, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and international supermodel Kendall Jenner came together for a sizzling shoot by celebrated Peruvian photographer Mario Testino.

Shot at the Samode Palace near Jaipur, Testino described the shoot as an amalgamation of “the people, the art, the colours, the elephants and everything in between.” For Sushant, it was an “out of the world” experience.

Speaking to mid-day, the actor says, “Anaita Adjania (fashion director of the magazine) called me up to ask if I would be interested in doing the shoot. And I definitely was. Who would say no to an opportunity to shoot for Vogue with Mario and Kendall?” Sushant recalls discussing India, food, fashion and the Victoria’s Secret model’s reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. “In fact, I have also shot a segment for an episode of Keeping Up... I would have loved to show her around, but couldn’t due to security issues. The palace where we stayed was huge and the food was great too. I ended the shoot with a nice conversation with her, Mario, Anaita and the crew.”

Asked if he is attempting to break out of the serious artiste mould by glamming up, he says, “As an actor I need to convince you that I am the part. So if I play a guy who is stylish, it is my job to make you believe that, irrespective of your perception.” Sushant adds he learnt quite a lot about fashion by merely observing Kendall. “She said she was happy to note that I am tall,” he says with a laugh.

After Katrina Kaif, who timed her Instagram debut with the unveiling of her picture for globally acclaimed photographer Mario Testino’s Towel Series, Sushant Singh Rajput, who’s made quite a splash with a photoshoot (also by Testino) alongside Kendall Jenner, has got his own place of pride in the illustrious Towel series. “It was an impromptu shoot that materialised as we shot with Kendall. I wasn’t going to pass up such a great opportunity,” Sushant told Mirror.

Katrina Kaif looks smoking hot in the pictures that fashion photographer Mario Testino shot for Vogue India’s May 2017 issue.

The iconic lensman’s aim was to discover Bollywood through Katrina, by bringing out her most intimate side.

Mario said, “When I worked with Katrina, my team did the hair, make-up and styling in our specific way. Then I went out with her in the evening and thought these are two different women — how she styled herself and how we perceived her. I want to see how the public will react to our pictures of Katrina. Will they be able to relate, will they like what we did — you know what I mean?”

Kat has been a fan of the photographer's work. She said, “I’ve always been a fan of Mario’s work and admired the way he captures women. Every woman that he shoots looks unique and special as if she’s being watched through the eyes of someone who really finds her magical.”

Acclaimed Peruvian photographer Mario Testino, whose ‘Towel Series’ has featured Hollywood actresses like Penelope Cruz, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Amanda Seyfried, fashion maven Anna Wintour, pop-stars Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, among others, has chosen Katrina Kaif for his foray into Bollywood. The monochrome picture featuring the 33-year-old actress in a, well, towel, recently found its place of pride as the second post Kat has put up on Instagram after her debut on the photo-sharing site, on Thursday.

Speaking to Mirror, the celebrity photographer said, “I loved working with Katrina. This was my first shoot with a Bollywood star.”

According to Mario, it was a picture of Brit supermodel Kate Moss posing in a white bathrobe, with her hair wrapped in a towel, on a film set, that sparked off the idea for the series. The on-going series has since been regarded as “liberating” by its creator. “I think men and women feel a sense of freedom because there is no predominated manner in which a towel should be put on. You can wear it however you want,” Mario contends, adding that he first met Kat at a party in Mumbai this January and the duo instantly hit it off.

Shot over a day-long schedule at a suburban five-star, Mario says it was a treat to click Kat. “For the first time, I regretted the fact that series didn’t allow much scope for movement; I would have loved to capture her amazing dancing skills. I wish to shoot a towel video with her soon. Spending time with Katrina was great and the pictures look fantastic,” Mario signed off.

It’s been a year since their breakup, and Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have maintained a safe distance from each other. So, a selfie of the exes with Sayani Gupta, came as a surprise. While Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt welcomed Kat to Instagram with a repost, her co-star Sayani trumped them with this rare pic, captioning it, “To mark the debut of the goddess on Instagram. Here’s a blurry memory (thanks to Ranbir) post wrap!”
