Bappi Da, I will miss you forever-Mithun Chakraborty

How Bappi Lahiri, Mithun Chakraborty And Vijay Benedict Recorded I Am A Disco Dancer

Priyanka Dasgupta (THE TIMES OF INDIA; February 18, 2022)

Kolkata: “Bappida I will miss u forever, mithun” — this was the message that Mithun Chakraborty sent out a little over 24 hours after Bappi Lahiri’s death. The actor had been busy with his hotel work on the outskirts of Bengaluru and Mysore the day Bappi breathed his last in Mumbai.

While celebrities rushed to pay tributes on social media, Mithun was conspicuous by his absence. A day later, when he reached Mumbai, arrangements had already begun for Bappi’s final journey.

TOI obtained his message via the actor’s son. Mithun and Bappi shared a bond since the days of Ravikant Nagaich’s ‘Surakksha’ (1979) and ‘Wardat’ (1979) and K Murli Manohar Rao’s ‘Dilwaala’ (1984). And then came the avalanche of their hits in Babbar Subhash’ ‘Disco Dancer’ (1982). All its songs — from Vijay Benedict’s ‘I am a Disco Dancer,’ Parvati Khan’s ‘Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy, aaja’ to Usha Uthup’s ‘Koi yahan nache nache’ — hit the national airwaves like a storm. The bond strengthened over 32 years with Prakash Mehra’s ‘Dalaal’ (1993), where Mithun lip-synched to Bappi’s ‘Gutur gutur’, till ‘Golmaal 3’ (2010), which had Pritam getting Bappi to sing ‘Disco Dancer’ picturised on Mithun and Ratna Pathak Shah.

In 2011, Bappi had done the music for a film with Mithun’s son, Mimoh aka Mahaakshay. The film was shelved midway, but the two families had come together for the music setting where Bappi’s compositions would be dug up from the past.

I have not given up on Bollywood, but TV is no less than movies today-Madalsa Sharma

Tanvi Trivedi (BOMBAY TIMES; January 23, 2022)

Madalsa Sharma, who plays Kavya in Anupamaa, has become a household name today. But before making her debut on television, Madalsa did a few Bollywood films and many South movies. The actress, who is the daughter of actress Sheela Sharma and director Subhash Sharma, says, “Movies as a career was an obvious choice because my parents are both from a similar field. I worked with some bright South makers. Then I got married to Mimoh (Chakraborty aka Mahaakshay) and I got an offer for Anupamaa.”

So has she given up on her Bollywood dream? She says, “I have not given up on that, but I realise that TV is not less than movies in today’s world. It has given me a chance to enjoy family and professional life. It is all destiny and how you make the best of the opportunities that come your way. I am sure there must be something interesting for me in films, too. I trust the universe.”

The actress also shares how she is open to doing OTT, but will draw a line when it comes to intimate scenes. She says, “I am not comfortable doing intimate or too many romantic scenes on screen. My husband Mimoh also feels the same. He is also not very comfortable doing intimate scenes on screen. We are both on the same page about this. Even before I got married to Mimoh, I knew that I had to draw a line when it came to intimate scenes. Things may change in the future given the nature of OTT, but currently I am doing television, so I don’t have to think much about that,” she says.

Currently, her TV show has progressed and newer tracks have been introduced. Will her character be as much in in focus even now, we ask. “My character Kavya will continue to be a pillar of the show. Just like in real life, people go through ups and downs, Kavya’s character is also going through a phase,” she says.

I feel very uncomfortable with the word doppelganger-Alina Rai

Naina Arora (HINDUSTAN TIMES; October 9, 2021)

A model, actor, and a social media influencer with a following of over 220K on Instagram succinctly defines Mumbai-based Alina Rai. But what sets her apart from the rest is her striking resemblance to actor Katrina Kaif! Rai has gone viral in the past for the same reason, and was recently trending again. However, she says, “I didn’t find any similarity [then] and still have not! We both have our own personalities. I’m sure, with more time, people will be able to respect that.”

Rai also shares that she does not appreciate the word doppelganger. “I feel very uncomfortable with this word. I don’t think we should be judged purely on appearance. We all have so much more to offer as individuals,” says Rai, who has featured in the music video for rapper Badshah’s song Kamaal Hai.

One look at her social media, and we note that Rai’s profile is buzzing with fashion shoots. “Being in front of the camera is my happiness. I appreciate the love I receive for my videos. I’m pleased that people are enjoying them as much as I’ve enjoyed making them,” she shares.

Of late, lookalikes of several celebrities such as actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have been in the news, and expressed the desire to act on screen. And Rai, who has worked with actor Mithun Chakraborty’s son, actor Mahaakshay, says, “I have several releases in the coming months and have also signed more films. It was delayed for a year because of the lockdown. Now, I can’t wait!”

Actor Mithun Chakraborty's wife, Yogita Bali, and their son, Mahaakshay, have been booked for allegedly raping an actress and forcing her to abort the pregnancy. An FIR was registered at the Oshiwara police station on Saturday.

The complainant has alleged that she was in a relationship with Mahaakshay in 2015 and that he had then promised to marry her. She has said in the complaint that Mahaakshay — who got married in 2018 — called her home five years ago and, after serving her an intoxicated cold drink, raped her. For a few years, he promised to marry her. Later, the accused allegedly forced her to abort a pregnancy.

The complainant said that she had approached the Rohini Nagar police station in New Delhi in 2018 to register an FIR. Senior inspector Dayanand Bangar of Oshiwara police station said, "The Delhi police refused to register an FIR. Later, she approached the court in Delhi, which instructed us to register an FIR." A case has been registered under IPC sections including 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc with intent to commit an offence) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Mahaakshay refused to comment on the charges.

Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty’s father breathed his last in Mumbai on Tuesday, but the veteran actor is currently stranded in Bengaluru owing to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown. Basanta Kumar Chakraborty, 95, reportedly died of renal failure after battling health problems for a while.

Right now, the actor is trying to reach Mumbai to perform the last rites. He was in Bengaluru for a shoot and post the lockdown, got stuck there. His eldest son Mahaakshay, also known as Mimoh, is in Mumbai along with the rest of the family.

Rituparna Sengupta confirmed the news on social media and tweeted her condolence to the actor and his family. She wrote, “My deep condolences on the sudden demise of your father, Mithun Da. Stay strong and may his soul rest in peace forever.”

Mithun, whose real name is Gouranga Chakraborty, is the eldest among the four children of Basanta Kumar Chakraborty, who is survived by his wife Satimoyee Chakraborty.

No cops came calling, allegations against Mahaakshay Chakraborty are false-Sheela Sharma, mother-in-law

The actor’s mother-in-law Sheela Sharma rubbishes rape and cheating charges levied against him, which reportedly led to the wedding being called off last Saturday, says the nuptials were pushed forward by three days to honour the court’s order

Amidst reports of a woman alleging that Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali’s son Mahaakshay aka Mimoh, on the pretext of marriage, had cheated and raped her, and even forced her to abort their child, the 33-year-old actor tied the knot with Madalsa, the actress-daughter of filmmaker Subhash and actress Sheela Sharma. The ceremony took place at Mithun’s Ooty resort on Tuesday. Later in the day, the bride took to the social media to share the news with a wedding picture, captioning it, “It’s you and me forever 10.07.18” Earlier in the day, speaking to Mirror from Ooty, Sheela informed that the couple registered their marriage on Monday, followed by the mehendi.

The traditional pheras took place a day later. “Both Mimoh and Madalsa are really happy and so are the families. With everyone’s blessings, everything went off smoothly,” she asserted, refuting all allegations levied against her son-in-law and his mother, Yogita, who had reportedly threatened the other woman with dire consequences if she continued her relationship with her son. Both Yogita and Mimoh were granted anticipatory bail by a Delhi court on Saturday.

According to reports, the wedding scheduled for Saturday was cancelled after the arrival of police to investigate the charges levied against the groom. “No cops came calling, all that was reported was just rumours, we are shocked that anyone could write such things,” Sheela says.

She goes on to reveal that the traditional ceremony was initially scheduled for July 7 but took place three days later, on July 10, as both the families wanted to honour the court’s order. “I reiterate that all the allegations against Mimoh are false,” asserted Sheela.

She informs that the Chakrabortys and the Sharmas have known each other for several years now. Her filmmaker husband, Subhash, and Mithun were together at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. “My husband’s first film after passing out from FTII, Tere Pyaar Mein, which released in 1978, had featured Mithun Ji as the hero. Bappi (Lahiri) da had given the music for it. So, we go back a long way. They are a respectable family, and anyone would be proud to be a part of their family,” said Sheela.

She goes on to add that they believe in forgiving and forgetting. “My family is into Buddhism and we always pray for everyone’s happiness. I have also been chanting for that’s other lady’s wisdom and happiness. God bless her,” she signs off, refusing to reveal any details about the honeymoon.

Even as an FIR has been filed against Mahaakshay Chakraborty, he's all set to get married

He has been accused of rape by a Bhojpuri actress. However, the families have decided to go ahead with the wedding on July 7, as planned
Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; July 5, 2018)

Four days before his wedding with actress Madalsa Sharma, Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mahaakshay aka Mimoh has been accused of rape, cheating and wrongful termination of pregnancy by a Bhojpuri actress. Mimoh’s mother, former actress Yogeeta Bali, has also been named in the complaint. Reportedly, Mimoh met the complainant in 2015 and they dated briefly. The actress, who has worked in Hindi and Bhojpuri films, filed a complaint before the Rohini court in Delhi, stating that she had been in a relationship with Mahaakshay since 2015. She also stated that they were physically intimate after he allegedly promised to marry her. Following the complaint, the court ordered an FIR for rape, cheating and causing miscarriage without consent, against Mahaakshay and Yogeeta Bali. While an FIR was lodged on Tuesday in Delhi, Sheela Sharma, Madalsa’s mother, told BT that the wedding is “very much on”. She said, “It’s happening on July 7. Mimoh met her (the complainant) in 2015 and we are aware of it. In fact, Mimoh had also filed a Non Cognizable (NC) complaint against her for creating trouble in the past. Why has she resurfaced now, just a few days before the wedding? Why did she wait for so long to take action? Everybody has a past and we know the truth.”

The complainant’s lawyer, Neeraj Gupta told us, “A case against Mimoh and Mrs. Yogeeta Bali has been registered with Begumpur Police Station, New Delhi, under sections 376, 328, 313, 417, 506 of IPC. An FIR has been lodged and we shall see that the accused are arrested before his wedding with another girl on July 7 in Ooty” Despite repeated attempts, we couldn’t reach Mimoh and his mother for their comment.

Currently, the families are busy finalising the wedding date. An engagement ceremony, followed by the wedding, will be held later this year. For now, Mimoh is totally focussed on his TV show, Gama. My father is resting at our Ooty home-Mahaakshay Chakraborty

Mimoh says backache prompted Mithun’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha
MUMBAI MIRROR (December 27, 2016)

After being elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2014, Mithun Chakraborty tendered his resignation as a Member of Parliament on Monday to the Chairman of the Upper House, Hamid Ansari, citing health issues. All India Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien confirmed the news, saying, “He resigned from Rajya Sabha on health grounds. We continue to share a warm relationship with him and his family. We wish him speedy recovery.”

When Mirror got in touch with the 66-year-old actor’s son Mahaakshay aka Mimoh, he admitted that Mithun’s health had been fluctuating because of a constant backache and the doctor has asked him to take it easy for now. “Dad has a lot of friends in the US. On their suggestion, he was in Los Angeles for a while undergoing physiotherapy sessions and has recovered 80 per cent. For now he is resting at our hotel home, Monarch Safari Park, in Ooty,” added the 32-year-old actor informing that his father is continuing with his physiotherapy sessions.

Bad back slows down Mithun Chakraborty but he'll be back in action in January

Avinash Lohana (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 21, 2015)

Of late, there has been plenty of speculation that Mithun Chakraborty, who hasn't been seen in public for a while now, is seriously unwell. He was hospitalised earlier this year after he suffered a bad bout of fever and vomiting. When Mirror contacted his son Mahaakshay aka Mimoh he informed that the 65-year-old actor has been laid low with a bad back.

“Back in 2008, when dad was filming Luck in South Africa, he was harnessed in air for a daring stunt. When he was brought down, there were some hard rocks beneath the safety mat, which went unnoticed and hurt him badly. The pain from a muscle spasm, was excruciating but disappeared with time,“ says Mimoh.

But a few months ago, the pain recurred and he was advised to take it easy. “It could be because of age and since it was the lower back, we didn't want to take any chances. He had a physiotherapist visiting everyday but now he's better and the sessions are down to one or two in a week,“ says his relieved son. Mithun was shooting for his dance reality show till the first week of October. “So it wasn't as if he was bed-ridden. His back is 80 per cent better and by January he should resume work,“ Mimoh signs off.
