The TV actress opens up on her relationship with Adhyayan Suman

Maera Mishra, who was last seen in the TV show, Bahu Begum, has joined the cast of Guddan — Tumse Na Ho Payega. The actress has been in the news for her personal life, too. While there have been rumours of her dating actor Adhyayan Suman for some time now, she has never spoken about it. However, for the first time, while talking to BT, Maera admits to being in a relationship with him.
She shares, “I first met Adhyayan at a party in 2018 and then, he started messaging me on Instagram. I didn’t pay much heed initially, but gradually, I fell in love with him. In fact, I proposed to him on New Year’s eve (2019). I wrote him a love letter, my first one, went down on my knees and asked him, ‘Shaadi karoge mujhse?’. His reply to my letter was the romantic song, Soniyo 2.0. Later, I featured along with him in its video, too (smiles!).”
However, she says that they have no immediate plans to tie the knot. Maera says, “Our career is our priority at the moment. I certainly wish to get married to him, but if it isn’t meant to be, we will accept it. I am just 23 and it’s too early for me to think about it.”
Talking about their relationship, she adds, “We have evolved and grown together. Adhyayan guides me, because he is more experienced. I have seen him get over his past relationship with great difficulty. He has battled depression and anxiety. I have tried my best to pull him out of it; it took time, but we are doing great today.”
On the work front, ask her if she was apprehensive about joining Guddan - Tumse Na Ho Payega midway, and she replies, “In any case, I don’t like to associate with a show that runs indefinitely, because one graduates to playing a mother and a grandmother, eventually. I don’t want to play a mother at this stage of my career. In Guddan, I am playing a mother, but not a biological one. Besides, my character has both negative and positive shades.”

The television actress talks about opting out of the show, Pyaar Ke Papad, and her relationship with Adhyayan Suman

Actress Maera Mishra, who is rumoured to be dating Adhyayan Suman, was signed on to play the childhood friend of Aashay Mishra (male lead) on the show, Pyaar Ke Papad (PKP). However, she has now opted out of it for another project, Bahu Begum (BB). Following her decision, the makers of PKP has scrapped her character on the show.
Maera, who started acting at the age of 13, has featured in shows like Dream Girl, Splitsvilla, and Ishqbaaaz. She says, “The decision hasn’t created any bad blood between the makers and me. They were completely fine with it because I’d given prior commitments to the other show. Also, my track in PKP was just for a month as opposed to an indefinite one in BB.”
The actress, who has been signed on to play the parallel lead in BB, doesn’t have any qualms about not playing the protagonist. She shares, “Though I started early, I took a break to complete my studies. I went back to my hometown Bareilly to complete my schooling and then to Delhi for graduation. I returned to Mumbai four years later to try my luck in acting again. It’s like starting from scratch. While I want to play leads, I am happy playing pivotal parts for now.”
Besides work, Maera has also been in the news for her proximity to Adhyayan. Maera says, “I had a huge crush on him when I watched him in Raaz — The Mystery Continues. I interacted with him on social media and met him soon after. We hit it off instantly and became good friends. I actually tried to play cupid between him and a friend, but gave up soon. He is such a nice guy that I wanted to keep him for me (laughs!). He respects women and is grounded.”
Ask her about their PDA on social media and she replies, “We share a great bond and are going with the flow. Yes, I like him, but I don’t want to give our relationship a tag, yet. Any girl would want a friend like him. I would say that our relationship is beyond definitions. We will stand by each other in every situation. So, if you call it love, then yes, I do love him. Having said that, we are still trying to get to know each other and I want to know him well before I go all out with it. Also, I want the focus to be on my work at the moment.”
Maera is also close to Adhyayan’s family, especially his father, Shekhar Suman. “I call Adhyayan Noni, as he is very cute, and his father, ‘rockstar’. Adhyayan’s family is fond of me. I was scared of Shekhar sir, but realised that he is a completely different man when I met him. He is a buddy now,” she signs off.
