LIGER (Hindi) had a dull first week collecting 18 crore nett as collections crashed from Monday onward. The weekend collections were not too bad for a film which had no face value and a south feel. The film was hyped way above the ground value of the film and that probably generated some little extra interest.
The content of the film did not work and that was pretty clear from the weekend trend of the film. The film has fared better in CP Berar, Bihar and Odisha but this is comparatively as collections in these places should also be much higher. The big let down was Gujarat/Saurashtra as this market can do better for South type films.
The film has also seen total rejection in its home market of Nizam/Andhra and the Hindi version is eventually likely to do a better number than Nizam/Andhra. There is an open week this week but that is hardly likely to help the film due to its rejection.
The collections of LIGER (Hindi) for the first weekend are as follows.
Thu (previews) - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 1,10,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 1,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 18,05,00,000 apprx

LIGER (Hindi) crashed out on Monday as it collected in the 1.25-1.50 crore nett range which is 70% down from Friday. This takes the total collections of the film to 15 crore nett apprx and the week may go to 18 crore nett plus.
The big drop in collections was always coming on Monday and it was whether it fell 60% or 70% and it was the latter, not that a 60% fall would have made any difference to the outcome. The film had also crashed out in South over the weekend. So the outcome is very bad down there and huge monetary losses.
There is also total rejection in the Hindi circuits but the film held hardly held any value so its nothing like the disaster that it is in South. It actually may be that the film gets its best number in Hindi as the in Nizam/Andhra the collections were pretty much dead on Sunday.
The collections of LIGER (Hindi) for the first weekend are as follows.
Thu (previews) - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 15,10,00,000 apprx

LIGER (Hindi) collected a poor 13.75 crore nett over its first weekend as collections were held back on Sunday by the big India v Pakistan cricket match. The film probably lost around 1.25 crore nett on the Sunday which means a fair value of around 15 crore nett for the weekend.
The problem for the film are the reports and because of them, it will not recover the business lost on Sunday. When a film has positive reports, then these sort of losses are recovered over the long run. The film did reasonable business over the first two days for what the film is worth but Sunday was the killer.
The best performance for the film was in CP Berar, Bihar and Odisha as single screens in these pockets fared a little better. The faces from the South are more readily accepted in these parts especially CP and Odisha but acceptance is so limited that it does not mean much in the overall picture.
The film also had a Telugu version released in Hindi circuits which did 50 lakhs nett with bulk of the business coming on Thursday. There was a Tamil version also but that had practically no collections. The four day weekend business of the film in all formats across India was around 35 crore nett with Nizam/Andhra contributing around 18 crore nett.
The collections of LIGER (Hindi) for the first weekend are as follows.
Thu (previews) - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 13,75,00,000 apprx

LIGER (Hindi) was pretty much flat on day two as it collected 4.25 crore nett taking its total to 10 crore nett including paid previews. The collections on Saturday were expected to drop more but the film was saved by the evening collections to an extent. Hence, the Saturday total is almost to the level of Friday.
The film was never likely to grow as it had a huge ratio of business coming from places like Maharashtra, Bihar and Odisha and these places don't go up on Saturday unless collections on day one are very bad. Moreover, the reports of the film are not good. On top there were paid previews on Thursday and so eventually the film has done pretty well not to have a major drop on day two.
The film is likely to be affected by the cricket match on Sunday but the bigger problem is the reports of the film which will come into play on Monday and on best case it will be probably be a 50% drop when the film needs to hold much better as the weekend is going to underperform.
Thu (previews) - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Friday - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 10,00,00,000 apprx

LIGER had an average opening day in Hindi as it collected 4.50 crore nett on Friday adding to the 1.25 crore nett it had collected on paid previews on Thursday. The collections on paid previews were pretty good in terms of occupancy. But if it was not held, the film could have had a better first day as reports spill out to the first day.
Still the first day is pretty good for a film with no face value but the film came with a lot of heavy promotion and hype created in the Hindi circuits by Dharma Productions. That is probably the main reason the film has got some fair numbers and a genre like this allows this to happen. The film would have had much lower numbers were it not for the hype created.
The film has done better in Maharashtra, CP Berar, Bihar and Odisha but North India in parts is also pretty reasonable despite no face value. The film could have done much better in Gujarat and the Gujarat numbers have kept the Mumbai circuit down. Gujarat/Saurashtra is only 30 lakhs nett for the film which is less than East Punjab when it should be much higher.
The film is sitting with around 5.75 crore nett in two days which is a pretty good number but the film will struggle for trajectory. Then there is the big India v Pakistan match on Sunday which will dent growth on Sunday when the film could have put another decent number.
